wedding for less than 10k?

I just started planning my wedding and am feeling like it will be impossible to have something nice in the san diego area with our small budget.  Does anyone have any ideas, especially for a cheap but nice venue.  I would like to have the wedding in north county or even Temecula because we have a lot of people coming from L.A. and norCal.

A little further down on this page is a post where someone has almost the exact same budget. You can have a wedding for under 10K, especially if you are willing to do it outside the city or at a park or something. A lot will depend on how big your guest list is. HTH!

I'm doing my wedding for well under 10k... it's possible but it does take a lot of work and planning, you have to be flexible and decide on what is most important to you and your FI. Check out some of the parks, have a cake and punch reception (perfectly acceptable for a mid morning or mid afternoon wedding), have your reception at the same location as your ceremony (also a lot more convenient for your guests), don't use flowers as decorations (according to my aunt, you can provide flowers for your entire BP for $10), do your own hair/make up (or have a friend who you know will do a good job do it) and keep your guest list to family and close friends

That was my budget also, but I'm a little over :) It really depends on the number of guest you will be inviting b/c food/alcohol can really raise the price. Good Luck!

Our budget was also initially $10,000 we had to increase it to $12,000 so that we could do a full dinner with hors d'oeuvres and alcohol. That being said, we have found some really good finds including the Junipero Serra museum, which starts at $600 and they are really flexible to accommodate your budget. Plus they allow any caterer so you can chose a good and cheap one! HTH :)

My budget is also $10k, and I am getting married at Ponte Winery in Temecula. I am getting married in January which is saving me a lot of money. We are having a small guest list, 45 people. The barrel room at Ponte is already wired and set up for an Ipod reception, if you don't mind doing that. We are doing that, and my sister is going to MC for the night. She will add a personal touch that we wouldn't get with a DJ. Plus we are also asking all the guest's for their favorite song to add to our list. I am also doing quite a bit of wedding stuff myself; invites, STD's, centerpieces, placecards, and maybe even bouquets. It is possible to have a $10k wedding, it just depends on your guest list and creativity! Good luck!

I forgot to mention, we both have big families and our guest list is about 150.  And, belive me, this is only the close family, there's a lot of people that we're already leaving out.  I wish I could cut it down to under 100 but that won't be possible.  I will be looking into some of the places you girls suggested.  I appreciate all the help.

Our wedding is in SD and our budget is similar.  Faulkner Winery in Temecula was our top choice before we decided to have it closer to home in SD.  Check out the casinos - they don't charge sales tax!  Ours is at Barona and we're saving tons of money!  Ask about Sundays - it's typically less expensive.  And ask about off-season dates - they're typically between Nov & Feb.  But it's SD, so everyday is a good day!
