DJ vs DJ

My brother and sister in law recommend the DJ they used at their wedding: DJ - Off the Record and my venue coordinator has recommended: Hey Mister DJ (Lee Dyson) anybody ever work with, meet these folks and have anything to say about them?

Sorry I personally have not but have you tried googling reviews on both of them? Project wedding is a GREAT source of reviews for wedding vendors. I would say try that if you are really torn between both. Also, maybe the DJ's would allow you to take a peak at one of their events they are playing at. I think that would also be a good way to decide which would be the best pick for YOUR event :) HTH!

Ditto on Project Wedding, that's a good place for information although if they are a new listing they may not have alot of reviews. When I asked people for DJ recommendations and was flooded with like a gazillion business cards.  Everyone and their cousin's sister's ex-boyfriend's roommate seemed to know a DJ I should contact.  I ended up going with the DJ that provided everything I wanted within my budget based upon Knottie recommendations: that was John Suarez with www.afterdarkdjs.biz. Tom Chandler is also a favorite.  Knottie recommendations will not steer you wrong.Make sure you ask your wedding coordinator if they take 'finder fees' from the vendors they recommend.  Some coordinators do that and what happens is you end up paying for their finder fee through a mark up on that vendor's services because they have to pay your coordinator for suggesting them. Finder fee is a euphemism for kick-back.And believe me, you will run into those.  Pretty much all the vendors recommended to me by my venue as 'affordable' where charging twice or more what the vendors I eventually booked through Knottie recommendations.Shop for quality and also remember your bottom line.I hope that helps

I'm going to go look and see reviews on Project Wedding now, thanks for the reminder! I don't think the venue coordinator is getting a kickback on this guy. I asked her for a recommendation and she said "this guy seemed really cool, but he probably won't remember me." Anyway, I'll check that out too! Thanks!

I agree with project wedding reveiws. Long story short - I pretty much planned my whole wedding off that site and all the vendors [but for the planner] were awesome! However, as a recent bride I discovered something about the site - our wedding planner pretty nearly ruined the day [we're getting a refund from her, she was kind enough to agree to that in light of everything] and one of my bridesmaids reviewed her while we were on our honeymoon. My bridesmaid rated her as a one star and her review was deleted. She contacted project wedding and they said that my planner disputed her review so they removed it. I didn't know about vendors being able to remove comments. I just found this all out a couple days ago, so I'm not sure what happened, but it is typically a great un-biased site!
