Hi Rin!  I met with Lena of First Class Weddings to go scout out the Hoku Lani (it is a gorgeous venue!)  She seemed really nice and very knowledgeable, but that is the extent of our experience.  She was very responsive with emails and easy to get a hold of on the phone, but, mind you, that was before we signed any contracts.  I've heard girls on the board talking about their own coordinators how they seem to be harder to get a hold of once you decide to book with/through them.  So from then on, I can't attest to how good they are.  Good luck with the Hoku Lani!!!  It was one of our favorite venues but we ultimately decided elsewhere because of the 9pm curfew the property has.  If you curious, I've got more pics of the location in my bio under scouting photos.

Thank you, M&M!  I just took a look at your bio and saw how beautiful the Hoku Lani is.  I also want to thank you for sharing all your research with fellow knotties; I feel like you've done all the hard work for us!

If there is a 9pm curfew, it's probably b/c Maui has a noise ordinance that doesn't allow noise (i.e. outside music) after 9pm. Our inn told us b/c we'll be having some ppl over after dinner and they wanted to make sure we know we can't be blaring music after 9pm. Maybe at the more remote houses this isn't a deal b/c they don't have neighbors really close, but anyone who's got neighbors isn't gonna want you being noisy after 9pm.

Huh, did they change the laws again? 'Cause our curfew was 9:30 for music & 10 to vacate the property.

Maybe different places have different rules on time? Our reception will end at 10pm.

No, they didn't change the noise ordinance law.  It's still 10pm.  The Hoku Lani has really close neighbors on both side of the porperty so the owner has put a 9pm curfew for that property out of respect for the neighbors.  We were already having a hard time with the 10pm curfew so we definitely didn't want to end the party at 9pm.
