Favorite Food Bar?

We do not want to do a formal dinner, and the only theme we have is trees/nature which doesn't really fit into what food to plate. We have been talking and we know we want to have stations and we know we do not want a caterer, we want to order food for each station seperately. So far we know we have having a big sushi station, and a full ice cream sundea/root beer float bar. We have been tossing around the idea of a spud bar or a pasta station, but finace came to me today with an idea (shocker!) and says.. what are you 3 favorite food? I said.. pasta alfredo, pepperoni pizza, and captian crunch? and he said... well then thats what you should have at your wedding. I was a little stunned, didn't know what to say...He said i love corndogs, mac and cheese with bacon, and shrimp, thats what I want to have... I want my own station. What do I say to that? Its not a bad idea, but would someone really want a bowl of captian crunch at a wedding?

Everything sounds delicious but the Captain Crunch.  Maybe skip that one.  Or include it as a topping at the ice cream station rather than serving it in a bowl with milk, ya know?

I think having your favourite foods is nice but the recception should also be about hosting the guests properly. (considering their tastes as well)

Include some of your favourite foods and add things that are known to please the people you know. (add things for special diets too)

I like the idea of captain crunch as an icecream topper - I kinda forgot how much I used to like it until now :) the rest sounds very cute - I'd also throw some veggies in there though and things for vegetarians :)

All the foods you mentioned are very casual foods, so if your wedding is also casual, then this should work well - except for the Captain Crunch.  If you are going for a more formal feel for the reception, then I think you need more formal food.  Also, you should know that it's very difficult to serve pizza to a large crowd.  It takes up a lot of room, and it gets cold very quickly.

It's not a bad idea.  Here are my ideas to have what you like, but make it a little more universal.

Put the captain's crunch on the sundae bar.

Pizza station with plain, veggie and pepperoni pizza

    Pasta station with Alfredo, marinara

    Mac-n-cheese with and w/o bacon

Hot dog station with corn dogs and regular dogs with all the fixings.

    Shrimp cocktail

ETA - maybe mini-pizza's passed around instead of regular sized pizza's.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

If it's just those six things, I voted dumb-- sorry. That said, I think you could incorporate some of your favorite foods into a classy buffet. Have a pasta bar with mac n' cheese and fettucini Alfredo with bacon and chicken to mix in. Mini pizzas could work well with an Italian theme, or as a late night snack. Mini corn dogs could be a fun h'ordearve during cocktail hour. You could have shrimp either with the cocktail hour or as a protein option with the pasta bar at dinner. I can't think of a way to work in the Captain Crunch-- I don't really see people eating that at a wedding.
