I'm having the same problem! I really want to do something local AND fall-ish. We are getting married in Ithaca...I found Ithaca Coffee Company and they sell a lot of local items including coffee, chocolates, honey, etc. FI wants to do maple syrup from his hometown, which is a definite option. We're still over a year out so we're not close to making a decision, just playing with ideas. I kind of like the idea of doing Ithaca Beer but then it seems weird when I think about giving people beer as a favor when they can get a beer at the bar 10 steps away... Good luck and I hope you can make a decision! Have you narrowed it down to a few options?

We are considering small things of maple syrup too  :)    FI's neighbor does maple syrup and we were thinking it would bring more of us into the favors, but we were also thinking about doing candy or caramel apples..we have a little over a year to decide but we are pondering different ideas..

Gertrude Hawk Chocolates. Found really awesome maple leaf favor boxes at michaels. Maple Syrup is a good idea! I'm from near Ithaca. Ithaca Beer would be a great favor to have! Even if I can get a beer a few feet away. They have plenty of different kinds and even Soda now!

were doing small 2x2x2 brown boxes with 2 lindor truffles in them. tied with an ivory bow with a favor tag that says 'love is sweet' and has a maple leaf icon on it.

Yeah we were def considering the maple syrup bottles too, i think they are super cute!! I love the caramel apple idea but out venue wants favors dropped off on like tuesday for our saturday wedding! Im worried about them holding up...and we have a fireplace in our room so I'm also worried about melting!! I didn't think it would be this hard to chose something! lol

I think we're doing a cany bar with green and white candies and heart shaped wine bottle stoppers attached to napkins. At first I wanted a more autumnal wedding, but somehow I've decided to do a preppy summer green and white combo. Wedding is 9/4/10, so i figure you can get away with doing either!

i noticed so many of you were thinking of doing maple syrup and a friend of mine just did them from her husbands college in the adirondacks. Paul Smith college makes it and bottles it in maple leave bottles, they looked great and werent very expensive, so that might be an option.

We are doing caramel corn in little bakery bags...its cute and everyone loves caramel corn!  We were going to do Maple syrup and I researched it, getting it directly vs. getting bottles online and packaging it ourselves, but financially was waaay more than caramel corn.  Of course we just like to be different and are not having cake either but apple pie instead.

I wasn't fall but my MIL made chocolate covered pretzels for us and they were a hit. Another update idea is Apple Cider Donuts. We put ours in our OOT bags and they were perfect.

We are also doing the maple leaf shaped maple candies. We are getting married in the Adirondacks and since I love all things maple, I thought it was the perfect choice. I'm also going to get some maple leaf hard candies and put a few of those in each box with the maple candy.

Well FI and I went back and forth on this. we were going to do BBQ sauce bottles with our label on them cause he is a BBQ fool. But that ended up falling through. So i ended up getting organza bags and mag tags to attach to them that are filled with hersheys hugs and kisses. The tags say hugs and kisses frim the mr and mrs. We are also doing a donation to the MS society as well. HTH

I love the apple cider donuts idea but I was worried about them staying fresh! Our venue likes to have the favors dropped off a few days in advance so i dont think I'd be able to swing it :(

I'm not a fall bride, but we're going through <a href="http://www.truffletrolley.com" rel='nofollow'>www.truffletrolley.com</a> and doing 2 truffles in a small box.  They have all different color boxes and ribbons (so you could do fall colors), and they come packaged up with an optional tag (.20 more) with your own words on it.  $1.70 each box plus .20 for the tag and it comes all put together - I couldn't beat it!  [Plus we tasted the truffles and they're pretty good :-)]

I'm a Sept 2010 fall bride! We're doing hand etched martini glasses and I might be hand painting chocolates in leaf molds. When my fiance and I met he bought me a martini so we thought glasses would be fun favors and usable favors. My grandma and I hand make chocolate every year for easter for our large family so when I found the mold at a garage sale new for $.25 I grabbed it in case we decide to do that as well.

I would check out Daffy Apples. (www.daffyapples.com)  The site has 6 pack samplers you can order to try and each apple works out to under $2 a guest. They seem to have a pretty good system to guarantee freshness, etc too. Might be worth a try!

I love the idea of Maple Syrup for a fall wedding. We are making a donation to 2 cancer foundations instead of favors. Both of our Mom's had cancer - both in remission and healthy!

We are doing small jars of jam in fall colors for our wedding next October.  Since we have a full year we are going to be brave and try and make our own.  Fingers crossed : )
