Been contemplating...

This weekend I found out my friend joined the Army National Guard.  I was in the Marines with him and we've been out for 7 years now so I was in shock.  Anyway, this guy has a family and is very level headed.  He owned a multi-million dollar company that he started from scratch.  He's a smart guy so I was even more shocked that he chose this.  It actually got me thinking about it as well.  I was talking to my cousin who is in the Army now and MC, who's hubby was in the guard and they pretty talked me out of it but then I started wondering about the Air National Guard.  I seriously feel like I am going nowhere.  I'm in at dead end job.  School (which I will finish) isn't going to get me anywhere since I have no clue what I want to do with it.  I'm such a lost person.  At least being in the military I felt important and like I was doing something with my life.  I am SOOOO ADD!!  HAHAA

BTW, deploying overseas is what's holding me back most.  I can handle domestic types of matters such as crisis and being sent to another state but not being sent to Iraq for a year or more.

Would they even accept you even though you are on disability? (I think you said you were because of your hip or something like that. I can't remember the exact situation). Is this the thing that will make you the most happy...career wise? If not, don't do it. You need to do what you will love in the long run. Sure it might give you something to do for now but if you don't enjoy it why would you take the risk of somthing happening you to you. Suri would not have a mom anymore. Just weigh out all your options.

My sister in law is in the Air Force and she and her husband are Russian linguists. They love it! They're going to Spain for 3 yrs next year. Desk jobs. Good luck!

Yea, they'd let me in Bre.  The guy that just enlisted was 60% or more service connected disability.  I only am at 20%.

I think you should do whatever makes you happy. If being in the air national guard was it then I say do it! I know you have a little one and a hubby but at some point they would both understand that in order for you to be a good wife and mother you yourself has to be happy.

I agree with doing whatever makes you happy. If you feel like you are in a dead end job and feel useless then maybe you should look into it? I would openly talk about it with Andrew about it though. Make sure he is comfortable with whatever decision you make. Good luck with whatever you choose though. :)
