Wedding Vows & Ceremony Discussions

A bit of a problem and the wedding is 5 days away.

I am getting married outside. The original plan was to line the walkway with shepherd's hooks (which we stick in the ground) and lanterns. I just got a call from the property manager who said that she "forgot" to tell me that we couldn't stake things in the grass.Long story short(ish), I have 30 shepherd's hooks and lanterns and I have no idea how I am going to decorate my aisle.Does anyone know of any alternatives to shepherd hooks?Thank you in advance! <3

  • You can always place the lanterns directly on the ground. I love the look of a lighted walkway in landscaping, why not a lighted aisle at a wedding? I've seen plenty of pictures where flower arrangements are placed directly on the ground along the aisle, so I don't see why lanterns wouldn't work. • Maybe you could still use the shepards hooks by using some of that floral foam stuff that you can get at stores like hobby lobby or something.  Put them in some flower pots or something.  Just an idea!
  • I second the idea of just setting the lanterns on the ground. I've seen some pictures of ideas like that and it was very cute. Also, where did you get your hooks? I haven't seen any for sale [not that I've been looking hard yet.]
  • Go to Ikea and pick up a bunch of cheap large glass vases and fill them with large candles.  If you are getting married at the beach, you can fill sand at the bottom of the vase.  Make sure you get the vases large enough so people see them and don't trip over them....and ground the vase with something heavy like the sand at the bottom or rocks.   Also, make sure the vases are substantially taller than the candles so the wind doesn't blow out the candles.  Or, now that I think of it....why can't you just put the lanterns on the ground?  I think that would be equally beautiful and you already have them???
