Intro Post

As requested! My name is Sheena, I'm 26 and my soon to be finace is Randy. We are not officially engaged, but have had our date picked out for over 2 years! I guess we could be considered engaged, just without the ring. We have been together for over 5 years and own a house about 15 mintues from the beach near Fenwick Island. We are planning to get married 10-10-10! Have not started to do too much planning, but we have a venue, theme and a few other ideas in mind. We own our own DJ company and play many weddings in the area, so we are quite familiar with the process and what needs to go into the planning of a wedding! Our hardest obstacle is going to be finding a DJ we like that can live up to our expectations (which are very high when it comes to the aspect of music the way the DJ will perform at the wedding). Being in the business we want our wedding to be very unique and our guests walking away saying" Wow! I've never been to a wedding like that! It was a great time!" We are going with a "Falling In Love" theme. Our venue is very rustic looking, but overlooks the bay in Ocean City, MD. The ceremony & reception will both be held at the venue. We have not decided on how we will be handling food, either heavy hors d'œuvres or a family style dinner. The most important part of the wedding for us is for everyone to have fun, so food isnt too high on our priority list. We have a lot of friends and I have a lot of family, so we don't want to spend a ton on the food. Alcohol & entertainment will take the top percentage of our spending. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated and welcomed. Glad to be on here!

Welcome!  This board is great and we all are very friendly and kind.  We don't have a lot of southern Delaware brides on here, but there are a few who got married down near the beaches, and they would be the best to find vendors in your area...and the Maryland board as well.  P.S.  My fiance and I were going to do 10/10/10 as well but after he proposed, I didn't want to wait that long, and settled on 10/11/09.

Thanks! I think about the only vendor I will be looking for is the DJ. But I have a few in mind. I have a friend who is a professional photographer and has helped with our brochure for our company and photos for our website. Shes great! I have some friends who are wedding planners they are up in N. Delaware too...Memorable Milestones if anyone needs one. My FI's aunt's sister has a floral shop and we have our venue picked....that pretty much covers all bases! Just the little stuff like transportation and hotels, but thats no biggie. It helps being in the wedding biz too, we have a lot of contacts from doing so many weddings down here!

Yay!  Congrats!  So happy to have you on here!  The DE board is so awesome, and even if you don't need vendor support, they provide awesome emotional support as well. Also, don't let the fact that you don't have a ring get in the way of you being engaged!  My aunt and uncle (who live down your way in Rehoboth!) were engaged and planned a wedding for a year before they got married, and didn't have a ring.  They were paying for it themselves, and wanted the money to go to the wedding and a house.  He surprised her the Christmas after the wedding with a solitare ring- it wasn't very big, but it was good enough for her, and that is all that counts.  As long as you know you are engaged, then don't worry about what others say!

Oh, my fiance and I started planning our wedding before we became "officially" engaged too.  I knew he had the ring but was just waiting for the perfect time to propose. We had already looked at venues and created our registry.

Welcome to the board! I knew when FI was going to propose so I started calling reception venues to get pricing. Your venue sounds beautiful!

Thanks for all the welcomes! Randy had texted while i was at work yesterday and said he had a couple gifts for me. Well, I knew it wasnt a ring, because he had only gone to BJ's during the day. When I got home he handed me a computer program called WeddingPlanner! I was very surprised that he actually thought of something like that! I'm excited to open and start playing with it! Anyone used it before? I don't know how helpful it will be, but its the thought that counts!

I got a fantastic one off of Download.com called iDo. I still use it for printing labels for holiday cards. :D
