Mansions and Arboretums?

Hi all, Venturing on to this OC board to see if anyone has had a wedding/gone to a wedding at the Muckenthaler Mansion in Fullerton? Thoughts? Prices? Ideas? Also....I would love to get married in an outdoor setting...maybe in a botanical garden or arboretum.....does anyone have any advice on pros/cons of doing it at that kind of venue? Do you have to bring everything in yourself? Thanks so much for your help! I really appreciate it! Thank goodness for The Knot message boards! Everyone has been so nice and helpful. :-) Gina

How many wedding guests are you planning on?  We looked at the Muck, but didn't like the options for the price.  If your wedding is smaller, there's the Golleher Alumni House on Cal State Fullerton Campus.  If your wedding is larger, there is the Fullerton Arboretum - again on the Cal State campus.  Both of these options require you bring everything in.  We had our wedding at the Alumni house and it was lovely.

My daughter has booked her wedding at the Muck, for next year. They can have up to 400 for dinner on the lawn. The ceremony area can hold 150 ish or more. We thought their prices were in the mid range and I have heard good comments about the food. I would call and schedule a tour/meeting to get all of your questions answered about prices etc. They do have the menu and packages on line. She is having the wedding on a Sunday, so that is a little cheaper too. Good luck!

I almost planned my wedding at the Muckenthaler but was not impressed by the grounds when i went for my tour. If you want to go all-inclusive and not have to deal with many different vendors though it's a good option. However i found that the college campuses have the best deals and that their grounds are much prettier and cheaper. But they do have more rules. I would check out all the local colleges but I liked Cal State Fullerton and UC Irvine the best.

I am planning my wedding at the Muck and am super excited, I think the prices are great for what you will get, I mean just the thought that my guests can be outside or in an art gallery was rad, its small and vintage just what i love , and I thought about the aboretum but a summer wedding outside with all those gardens, i worried about bugs, and weird smells and allergies, thats just me though.
