Reception Locations in Syracuse, NY

Looking for ideas for having a reception in Syracuse, NY. Where have you either had yours or booked for future or gone to a reception and really liked it ? We are on a pretty tight budget so wanting to keep it under the $50/pp price range ... Okay with either sit down or buffet. Want to have it either at a hotel or not too far from hotels. Thanks in advance

I had my reception at the Red Mill Inn in Baldwinsville - and it was great. Right on the Seneca River, recently remodeled, and the banquet room doesnt have that hotel banquet room feel. The room fee is cheap - I think 475 with dance floor... Then you have your choice of 4 or 5 cateres. We had a buffet catered by Carnegie with a beer and wine and soda bar for well under $50 pp. Their website is www.theredmillinn.comThey have 32 rooms onsite, all at good rates, very homey and rustic feel to themIf you have any other questions, or want to see some pics, just let me know!

Hey! We are having our reception next summer at Justin's Grill. It is beautiful and the food is amazing. We really liked that they would work in our budget so what's posted on the website isn't final. We're having a 1-5pm reception which may not work for all people but it was exactly what we wanted. Because of the afternoon reception we're getting a free wedding cake from Pascales (4 tiers that we design) and they're working a deal so we can have stations at a much cheaper rate. It's worth a look!

I think the downside to Justins is that it has to be an afternoon reception, right? They dont do night receptions? Also check out the Genesee Grande - really pretty space. The Renaisance Hotel 0 a penthouse view of the city - but a kind of awkward space I do not recommend the Doubletree on Carrier Cicle - I went to a wedding there this past summer, and the food was subpar, the hotel was disorganzied for the brunch the next day, and during dinner - they cooked the chicken with the shellfish - causing a friend of mine to have an allergic reaction!

We are having our reception and ceremony at LaFayette Hills Country Club (it is not even 10 minutes from downtown).  It has a great view with tons of windows, an outdoor space, a great free standing bar and it falls into your price range.  Also, Niki (the event coordinator) is WONDERFUL!!!  She will help you with anything!!!Let me know if you want more info!

Thanks for all the replies so far... We checked out Justin's but they only had a daytime availability and we want a nighttime reception as well as thier pricing is a little on the high side. Same with Renaissance Hotel as well...
