minimal centerpieces -- should i DIY?

i want really minimal centerpieces (see photo). i love the idea of mixing a bunch of different bud vases and candles and it looks so simple to arrange! am i crazy to want to DIY this (i'll have about 20 centerpieces)? i just feel like i'd get ripped off if i went to a florist for this but i don't want to have to worry about this the day of my wedding.

Do you plan on using silk flowers if you DIY? If you used silk flowers, it wouldnt be too bad. i made all of our centerpieces and started a few months ahead of time. Our venue had no trouble with setting them up day of.

If you are using real flowers, I think it would be alot to do youreslf. If you have alot of people to help you, it may be doable. The days leading up to our wedding were very stressfull and I cannot imagine taking on a project like that, that close to the wedding.

I think it's a pretty setup and a good idea.

If you provided the vases, the flowers (try a wholesale website or a place like Sam's Club/BJs) and a photo/diagram of the setup, most venues could probably set this up for you. I only encountered one venue who said they would not set up anything for us and we'd have to do it ourselves that morning/day before, or hire a florist or a day-of coordinator to do it.

I would talk to your venue and see what their policy on this is, and then take it from there. I personally would not do it if you'd have to do it yourselves ... if there's an on-site coordinator, or if you're hiring an independent coordinator anyway, this would probably work out. Or, heck, even hire a responsible college kid you already know to do this, for a few bucks or a case of beer.

I'd also get a price quote from some florists. I got small cube vase floral centerpieces for $23 per table, which is a LOT lower than I thought professional floral CPs would be.

I would check into prices of all those little vases before you skip a florist. We wanted minimal centerpeices too (3-4 little vases). We eventually went with one large and 3 little and it was $40 per table. Not bad IMO.

My Centerpieces costed me about $21 each....I went to Mueller's in Newark to buy the vases and ribbon...they were dirt cheap. I thought about DIYing them, but it would've been too stressful so I asked the florist what they could do and they gave me gerber daisies that matched the BM bouquets for $21....it is possible you can get them cheap. Good luck!

I am doing this exact idea with milk glass vases--super cheap! You can find them at thrift stores and garage sales and then you also don't have to worry about decorating the vases. My BM's are helping me do the flowers the day or 2 before. You can totally get it done! Good luck!
