DIY Invitations

Has anyone made their own invitations? Where did you buy the supplies? I am thinking of doing this because I just can't find what I want. We are having a pink and green wedding. We would like to do something modern and not floral. (FI is not too crazy for the flowery ones!) I have found some cool invitations at a site called kangaroo something, but they are $3.00 for one and that is out of our budget! Any suggestions? Thanks!!! Kelli

we did our own invitations....took a long time but I loved our final product (PIB under paper)  We used pocketfolds from donahue paper emporium (marsupial brand) and got the rest of our paper from Archivers & Michaels.  You can totally do them yourself...but they are time consuming (depending on how good you are with the computer & design) :)  Good luck!

I made a couple of drafts in Word and will have them printed on cardstock at Office Depot.  It comes out to about the price if I printed them at home, but I don't have to waste my ink and don't have to work about cutting them myself.  I'm challenged in that area.

I've made several family members in addition to my own, I enjoy that sort of thing. :o) If you would like I can help through a design together for you, I have a nice program and a lot of images. Email me if you want any help. mandrewsr at yahoo dot com  I know fran did an awesome job on her invites and believe she got the supplies from cardsandpockets.com (she has a pic in her bio). Also xpedx has a nice supply of paper stuff if you want to buy in person instead of online.

I got mine from Michaels (PIB). They were very reasonable priced and everyone commented on how much they liked them. They have anumber of really nice designs (plus I bought all of them with coupons!)

I DIY'd my 3 panel pocketfold to include both an English invitation, Chinese translation and a pocketfold.  I bought paper from Anchor Paper online and Xpedx, and the rest of my supplies came from Michael's, Archivers, and Target.  They were extremely time consuming but ended up saving us a ton of money, but I'm not sure if that was worth the time it took to do them.  The time part depends on what sort of design you're doing and how handy you are with computers, arts & crafts stuff.  There are a lot of templates out there so you can save some time by doing a little research on DIY bride or the making it personal forum.Good luck!

We're doing our own too.  You can get a lot of ideas online.  We've found a lot of stuff at Archivers.  We're going to have an invitation assembly line with our family and bridesmaids.  I have a lot of crafty family around, so they are more than willing to help out.  If you can get everything cut out, you can see if you can make an afternoon crafty party with other ladies to help you out.  It cuts down alot on time.  (And I agree with your husband on the floral issue.  Flowers and hearts are the reason we're making ours too.)

Hello,Marsupials are really fantastic.  Donahue paper is a good paper shop.  Xpedx is, too.   www.paper-source.com has wedding invites that are very modern, they do most of the work, and the cost is about the same in the end.  They have letterpress or print and some also have an engraving option.  Hope this helps.  If you decide to DIY, make sure you allow lots of time!Good luck!
