I was a bridesmaid in a wedding there 5 years ago...it was beautiful and the food was better than average, as was the service. The management was extremely strict about entering the venue at the scheduled time (which is understandable) however they shoved the florist back out because he showed up 15 minutes before he was supposed to. They then came up to the bride (we did pics outside before the wedding) and informed her that if the florist or anyone else stepped foot inside the building in the next 10 minutes that she'd be charged an extra hour of usage...needless to say it left a bad taste in our mouths.

My cousin had her wedding there over 10yrs ago and she kept recommending I look at the place.  But then I heard from two separate people who knew of weddings there and both told me the same thing - the management does not put the bride's wishes first.  I guess the staff and management come out and do so stupid dance to Cotton Eye Joe during the reception.  Both brides made it clear they absolutely didn't want this and they still came out and did it.

It's the worst.  My MOH had her wedding there and the staff was awful.  The bullied her DJ and made him use their equipment (which sounded terrible)  They were also rude to her photographer.  The food was just ok.

FI had his junior prom there. I personally liked it. It's a rustic setting & the room we were in was pretty, the dancefloor was just ridiculously small. From what I remember the food was good as well.

My brother got married there 2 years ago.  It was fabulous!  They had the ceremony out by the waterfall, the cocktail hour inside lower level, and the reception inside upper level.  They have two buildings to choose from, but can't remember the building my brother used.  I do know that with any DJ you book, they have to use Kings Mills equipment, and the management didn't put the caketopper on the cake.  Other than that, it was a lot of fun and the food was great.

I've heard from assorted brides I've run into at Bridal Fairs (where as a mob i go to snoop about venues and vendors) that their appetizers are frozen and not the greatest and the food only so so.  The sound systems not great.  It is pretty if you are looking for rustic and has nice picture ops and if you are looking for a venue that's not super expensive this is it.  But we've decided against it.  Somewhere I have photos of it if anyone is interested let me know.  (nancycels@aol.com)

I was just the MOH in my best friend's wedding on 9/5/09. Her reception was at Kings Mills and it was WONDERFUL! They worked with her budget since they knew her and her fiance were paying for everything themselves. The cocktail hour was great and unfortunately I filled up there and had no room for dinner except a few bites! I know overall my friend was EXTREMELY pleased and would recommend Kings Mills to anyone! From the appointments I went with to her and to see the final outcome, I would have to agree! They did awesome!

I just booked my wedding there and I am super pleased so far. The King Family is strict about letting people on the property because they do not want anyone interupting someone else's event which as a bride I really appreciate because I do not want people of another event ruining my wedding. They really worked with my budget and I think the facility is beautiful. I saw the sound system and it looks nice to me, but he did mention that they just did some work and maybe upgraded it.

I've been to 2 weddings there over a course of many years.  The venue is beautiful and rustic.  As far as the owners, if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all.  I'll leave it at that.
