So, while on vacation with friends and my SO this past weekend in the Dominican Republic, I got engaged.
He made me promise not to tell anyone till we got home so I was bursting at the seams by the time we got to our first layover spot. Apparently, it wasn't a surprise for my parents as he had called and talked to my dad before we left.
He had set up a romantic dinner on the beach, so I had suspected something. But, of course, he wouldn't make it that simple. We were sitting on the beach the day before our romantic dinner and everyone else (the 4 friends we went with) got up to jump in the water. He didn't want to, so we stayed on our beach lounges. I said I was going to grab something to eat and he said he'd get it for me. He came back and leaned over the back of the lounger and handed me a plate of fruit. He then said "I have something else for you too," opened the box, and asked me to marry him. It took me a few moments to say anything but I finally said yes! As SO likes to say it, he had to hand me something because when I get nervous or scared I need to have something in my hands to calm me, and that's pretty true. I cried, everyone came out of the water and celebrated and we had a great night. The rest of the trip was drinking, partying, and have a great time with friends.
