invitation wording

I only want the people who's name is on the invitation to come, how do I word that only the names on the envelope are who is invited?

You write their names on the invitation? Don't include phrases like "and family" or "and guest" People will figure it out.

you can't. Just list names on the envelope. Example, don't write Smith family, write Jane and Joe Smith.

You shouldn't have to. It's commonly understood that the invite is for the people to whom it's addressed.

If you want to get specific, you can list individual names on the RSVP cards. Of course, somebody will write in a +1, which means you get the pleasure of making a phone call to explain that you can't accomodate extra guests..

Like people have already said, just list the people you want to invite on the invitation. If more people RSVP than invited, politely call them and explain "for XY&R reason we can't accommodate the extra guests."

Just address the envelope to those you want there by name.There's no nice way to take it a step further without being rude just like you can't write on the invitation, "Don't be late!"You have to believe that people will read it correctly.

It's not commonly known in my area, sadly. I put everyone's name on the RSVP card and then put "We have reserved ___ seats in your honor." and filled that in. The only change I've received so far is a 4 was marked out and "2" was added because they are not bringing their children.
