Bridal Expo Contest Winners?????

What the heck?  If you went to the bridal expo at Dulles, did you get a phone call saying you won three gifts and you were one of the 5% of registration numbers they pulled?  And you have to call back immediately to hear what the offer is?  So here's what she said....you make an appointment for tomorrow night or saturday (12, 3 or 6) to visit with a representative from their company at the Holiday Inn Ballston.  There's no obligation to buy anything.  You get a free trip--two nights, three days to lots of locations...she kept saying no strings attached.  But--you have to go meet with this person so they can talk to you about how to book it (I was like--why can't you tell me on the phone) and then they cook you something with their cookware.  You're there for an hour to an hour and a half, and your fiance must be wife you.  Anyone else get this call??  Is it a scam....please advise.  (they're based in Long Island--I know by the area code from the call)Ugh to bridal shows!! Beware if you've never gone....I attended the bridal show and my inbox now has an influx of vendors that got my email off the registration card. Ugh.

Don't bother. They call everyone. Smells like a scam to me... not worth it! I highly doubt they just hand out free trips!

I love that I type-o'd and put "wife you" instead of "with you".  Ha! Wedding mode!

They will really give yout the trip if you suffer through the pitch.. its just like going to a timeshare seminar... they want to show you their cookware line and in return you get a gift... they assume that at least someone at the show will buy it so its worth it....But in all seriousness, if you didnt want your inbox to be full why did you give your address. My best friend is a wedding florist and she spent over 1300$ to be in the richmond expo (run by the same company as dulles)These shows are NOT CHEAP to have a booth in.. for those vendors THIS is their business, and their livelihood. They are only trying to reach out to potential clients, the brides who came to the show. If you didnt want the info why did you give it to them? I understand it is frusterating, as it happened to me when I went last spring.... but its not fair to them to be hateful when they are only trying to run their business....

The calls/emails die down quick if you're smart about it. Remove yourself from all emails you get from the vendors (click the unsubscribe me link at the bottom of each one - it's required to have them there by law, I think). Also, when you get phone calls, tell them thank you, you're not interested and asked to be removed from their list. Not sure when you're getting married, but I suggest making an email accout just for wedding info stuff. Unless you have a junk email you use already.

Thanks.  I only gave my email once--on the registration card--and that was because I was told it had to be filled in completely.  I immediately thought to myself---I'm going to need a new email address after this wedding stuff is over---or I'll be clicking unsubscribe a lot.  Anyways--thanks for the info.

Hmm, I saw your post earlier, but I skipped it because it started with "bridal Expo". I never went to the Dulles Expo. HOWEVER, I did get this same phone call just tonight, saying I won out of a list of names registered to a bridal website. I'm guessing it's theknot.com because that's really the only website I've registered as a bride. Therefore, you might've gotten picked from a group of brides in the DC area. Anyway, they went on about winning the same things (free hotel, free grocery card, and discounts on their products) if you were to sit through a 1.5 hr presentation and food tasting using their cookware. I'll only go if my fiance is willing to sit through all that, he's done it once before to get free stuff a LONG time ago. He's pretty tolerant, but I'm afraid it's not worth it. Are you thinking of going? Obviously, we didn't win anything, because here is their website, open to just about anybody. [urlhttp://chefworldbride.com/promotions.html[/url]

nah--I skipped it.  Haven't gotten any calls since skipping, so that's good.
