We are using Sheker Sem.  He definitely usually does more traditional work, but when we met with him he seemed really open to anything.  He's super laid back, and the type of guy who will not harass your guests and is best for getting shots when you're not even aware he's taking pictures.http://www.semphotovideo.com/

Do you only want an Indian photographer or are you open to someone that has done Indian weddings?  Honestly, I found Indian photographers in the area to be really shady and from the horror stories that I've heard from many of my friends, many of the photographers are not to be trusted.  I also found that most of them were fairly traditional and you'd have a better time finding a non-SA photographer who has a photojournalistic style.  However, of the indian photographers, I like Amish Thakkar's style, although it is very expensive.  We used Garden State Photo and have had a great experience with them and they have done Indian weddings before.

hi raksha... if you are looking for a non-traditional, here is a list of photojournalist-style p'gphers from easter Pa...their work really is great. alison conklin is my favorite and she has gotten RAVES from many, many people that i work with here in allentown...and she is willing to travel... http://www.alisonconklin.com/ ... Alison Conklin http://www.amandakraftweddings.com/main.php ... Amanda Kraft http://www.stephaniealbanesephotography.com/ ... Stephanie Albanese http://www.loveshackphoto.com .... Jackie and Patrick http://www.sarahschulte.com/ ...Sarah Schulte I do know that Alison's packages tend to be a little pricier, BUT she does give you the rights to all your photos and is apparently great to work with...I am really thinking about building my Catholic wedding budget around her...she and the LoveShack team both feature husband/wife photogs if you choose to have two shooters for the whole day...a unique approach and I think it gives them some extra appreciation for weddings since they are married, too :) I am not sure if any of the above have specifically had experience with shooting Indian weddings, but I am sure if you let them know what to expect/look for, they will be able to help you :) GL!

Check out my friend and former colleague Amy Newman.  She's a veteran photojournalist and a go-with-the-flow, easy-going and fun person to work with: www.amynewmanphotography.com. Her blog is amynewmanphotography.blogspot.com.  She is based in Northern NJ.

I used Sandeep Ingale (Ingale Photography) he is based out of Basking Ridge NJ.  We were pretty happy with our pics, hes not super traditional and is a nice guy.  However, I used non-SA for my Garba and Vidhi (both local to DE) and part of me wishes i did the same for the wedding/reception.  NOt that i dont like my pics, but i definitely noticed a different approach to the pictures (lighting was a key one) which I also really liked.   I agree with everyone else and do not limit yourself to Indian photogs - there are SO many non SA photogs out there who  have experience with SA weddings nowadays. GL!

FI and I booked a photographer (David Lau) because we loved his candid images and the way he captured the fun and emotional moments in a natural way.  He does not have Indian wedding experience, but we figure we can educate him on the key moments of the wedding ceremony.  He actually just told us that he's doing a couple of Indian weddings this year before us.  :-)We just booked a Videographer (Janice & Mike from Celeste Studios) that is not indian yet has an extensive amount of Indian wedding experience and they offer both photography and videography services.  We loved the creative cinematic style of their videos, and they seem to really tailor it to the couple's style.  You may want to check them out too!  www.celestestudios.com

Hi,   I used House of Talent Studios.  They're based out of Long Island, NY.  They were Indian and they knew our traditions.  They also are very modern and took great pictures.  They are reasonably priced as well and their work is beautiful.
