Capitol rotunda....acoustics?

I am planning to have my wedding ceremony at the Capitol rotunda in Harrisburg, PA. Has anyone been to a wedding there or gotten married there that could tell me about the acoustics? I'd like a string quartet at my ceremony and maybe have my cousin sing but I'm concerned about the echo in the building. Any input would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I have not gotten married there but I did sing in a choir there as well as played in a pep band there (on two separate occaisons, haha)...the acoustics are insanely live.  I think it's a neat effect, and you would most likely not need any amplification for them.  So yes, there is an echo, but it wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing for the live music.

I can't say yet, but we are also having our ceremony at the Rotunda and have hired a violinist dou.  They do not have an amplification system and did not speak of a prominent echo.  On a side note it is nice to find another rotunda bride:)

I have never attended a wedding in the rotunda, but I work for the state and have held several events in the rotunda. The area is quite vast and doesn't really absorb much noise, if there are people above you it will certainly be heard. With that being said I have never had a problem with echo of the speakers, of course they used an audio system, but no problems. Also, as a warning the lights in the rotunda are quite intense and do throw off some heat. Additionaly, the tiles in the rotunda are beautiful but difficult to walk on with heels and can be slippy. So just make sure your shoes are well scuffed! Good luck with everything. You are sure to have a beautiful wedding at the Capitol!

Thanks to all for the information! I feel much better now about the music and singing at my ceremony.

My sister's violin duo business Suite Strings has played in weddings at the Rotunda many times.  She would be able to give you details about the acoustics. The e-mail address is suitestringsmusic@yahoo.com.  Good luck and Congrats!

I would love to get married at the Rotunda, does anyone know how long of a wait is it to get married there, is it difficult to set up an appointment?

Does anyone know who to contact about getting married at the Capitol rotunda? I'm having a hard time trying to figure out who to call? Thanks!
