I've just been pulled up by my Mother because I haven't responded to a STD for a Wedding in a YEARS time, since when do Save the Dates require a response? And since when do you have to give notice of your intentions to attend a party that is a whole year away???? Apparently I am rude?!?!?!Oh and the Bride2B is stressing that I need to book the hotel NOW because if I don't there may not be a single other place I could stay in the whole City! Really???! Please! I am quite capable of getting my own grown up butt in a taxi & finding another Hotel if that one gets booked!

STD=FYI. No need to respond. It would have drove me crazy if I started getting calls and letters a year before my wedding.

You don't have to respond to a STD, that's crazy. It's just a notice TO you to save the date.

I was under the impression that STDs were just that: STDs. A simple "Hey guys, you might not want to make plans that day".If you RSVP now, does that mean you don't have to when the invite comes? Or perhaps that bride is thinking that RSVPing to the STD makes you eligible to actually receive the invite. Like "Oh, Bob said 'no' to the STD, now he's not getting an invitation".This is only a guess, and I base this off of thinking "If I were totally BSC, what would be my motivation for doing this?"

Yea Megs, I was thinking the same thing. She is probably doing the whole no to the STD means no invite. Klassy.I just sent my STD's a few weeks ago, hardly anyone has said anything about getting them. I'm still alive.

Chances are, the bride either wants to not send invitations to STD no's, or she's just really bored and over-anxious to have numbers and wants to know. Tell your mom that you're an adult and if the bride wants to talk with you, she can call you directly. Until then, you will not be discussing the issue.

STDs don't require a response. They are intended to be informational. When you have an actual invitation, you will respond appropriately.
