"rare but vexing" occurance? So you're telling me that if I go in for surgery I should be told that out of the many possible "rare" complications, that catching on fire is also a possiblity?! Never heard a doctor rattle that one off before.

There was a similar case recently where they were some doing surgery on someone's abdomen, and accidentally cut into the intestine and the gas that escaped caught fire. Methane is highly combustible, too... I'm trying to find the article about that case, brb.

I work in a hospital and we have to do training on how to prevent surgical fires. Oxygen + sparks from medical equipment or lasers during surgery make it a fire risk.
