Wedding party gifts at an engagement party?

Hi everyone!

I have a question about giving our wedding party a little gift at our engagement party. We wanted to give them bridesmaid and groomsmen t-shirts or something similiar. Is it a good idea to give that at our engagement party? We are giving them their "real gift" closer to the wedding, but I thought it would be nice ot give a little appreciation gift. Any other brides give their wedding party at their engagement parties?

    Honestly if the date in your profile is correct you are getting married in 2014. It's way to soon to pick a bridal party because relationships change. You should wait until about 9 months before the wedding. Trust me we wound up with a best man neither of us was talking to because we chose too early.

    Yes, definitely wait until you are within the 9 month range to pick people. That is more than enough time for people to order dresses or tuxes. Picking early often leads to bad results. You can see that all over these boards.

    It sounds to me that OP and her FI have already picked their WP.   If so that ship has sailed.

    OP, I gave my BMs a little gift at our engagement party, just a little token - Vera Bradley cosmetic cases with some travel-sized products from Bath & Body inside.  It was just something I wanted to do. 

    Honestly, I would skip the BM/GM t-shirts.  If you want to give them a little token gift that's fine, but I would steer clear of anything that has BM/GM emblazoned on it.  It's cute, but not really something they'll get much use out of other than maybe during your wedding activities.
