Destination wedding dress help -PLEASE!!!!!

OK, so here it is 8 months before my destination wedding and I have not found any wedding dress that I have fell in love with. I have looked everywhere in my area (which to be honest doesn't have a whole lot to offer) and tried on hundreds of wedding dresses. Nothing! I'm starting to get frustrated and not really having all the fun your supposed to be anymore. Now here's my question - Is it wrong of me to get a dress for my destination beach wedding thats not a white traditional wedding dress? I have found these awesome dresses that are very colorful and kind of wild (very me), I think they are like special occasions or party dresses, that I absolutely adore. Is it very wrong of me to want to save some money and actually buy a dress that I really love and can wear again and not get the white wedding dress? Plus like I said these dresses are more my style. My Mom is kind of having a fit that I don't want to get a wedding dress, saying I won't have anything to leave my daughter(if I ever have kids, let alone have a daughter!) Plus how many of us really even use our mothers wedding dress in any way? I need help - please any advice on this? I just want to have a low key beach wedding and have fun, not stressing over the wedding dress! HELP!!!!

Wear whatever you want. It is much more important for you to feel like you are expressing who you are then to imple "put on a white dress". Just make sure you think about it and are 100% sure this is what you want, then go for it.

You know your 100% right! I know I'd definetly would not feel like I would be expressing myself or being myself, for that fact,  if I do the "traditional white dress". Thanks RogueQueen!

Do it! It is your wedding. You should be happy and still feel like yourself that day. If you want something to keep and pass down maybe you could invest in a great piece of heirloom jewelry that you will wear on your wedding day.

Perhaps you could consider a white party dress? Even one w/a print? I'm sure there are fabulous ones out there. In the end, you're the one that needs to be happy w/what you are wearing. I bought a sample dress and now I'm stuck wearing a dress I don't want and for some reason no one will buy. I'd hate to think of yet another bride who won't want to look at her wedding photos.

Wear whatever dress best demonstrates your personality and character.  It ultimately is your day and you should wear what makes you happiest.  I've seen lots of beach pictures where the bride does not wear a "traditional" wedding dress.  Congrats!

I got married in Jamaica in July... and was having the hardest time finding a dress.  I went EVERYWHERE in PA, MD, NY, NJ, and even WV to find a dress.  I seriously was on the verge of tears.  Altho, i have TONS of pictures of me in cool dresses!
In MD you can find LOTS of woman who will MAKE your dream dress, for less than $300 bucks (altho, i wanted something with little frabric)....
i FINALLY got a call from Special Moments in Millersburg... and they had found a dress exactly like what i described... for $250!!!   I ran up, and i bought it.  It is my DREAM dress!!!   Every inch of it was what i envisioned.
Try giving them a try... they are amazing!!!
I agree with the other girls... go with whatever you want!  BUT, in the end, you only get 1 day to wear a white wedding dress.   it should be special.  Maybe you'll get lucky & fall in love with a white party dress!!!   :)        good luck
