E-Ring on the Big Day...

Who has it? I'm thinking of giving mine to my dad for safekeeping and I KNOW he won't lose it, but I wasn't sure who held onto it traditionally.

Who's holding yours?

this is also what I am doing. After the ceremony when we are having a quite alone moment, I will switch it to my left hand

  • I'm just going to wear mine and switch the order of them after the ceremony.  I want to wear a different ring that FI gave me on my right hand, its a claddaugh ring with diamonds for the heart & I wear it every day.  I think I'd feel naked without it & constantly have the "oh no I lost it" feeling, which I'd rather not have on my wedding day!

  • Wearing it on my right hand and then placing it on the left with my wedding band after the ceremony.
  • Mine doesn't fit on my right hand so I will either just wear it on my left hand and then change the order later, or I will give it to my mom or dad to hold on to.

  • Mine will be soldered so hell put the whole set on. Best man will be holding it and that scares me. Hell get it at the very last minute
  • I'm just wearing mine on my left hand (it won't fit on the right one) and switching after the ceremony.

  • This, exactly.

  • I may be crazy, but are you not supposed to wear it on your left hand? Is it tradition to wear it on your right? I just figured I would wear it like normal and he would put the wedding ring on my finger on top of it and I would switch it later.  Why do you not wear it?  Haha sorry, this is the first I have heard of this!

I just want there only to be the wedding band in pictures and stuff.... I may end up just wearing it on my left hand though.

  • I'm giving mine to my mom until after the ceremony, then I'll put it back on. A lot of people wear their e-rings on their right hands for the ceremony, but it just doesn't feel right to me.
  • I'm wearing mine on my right hand, then moving it to my left hand once the ceremony is over.  I might also wear a ring that FI gave me on my right hand, still undecided about that though.

  • I dont know I always thought I'd wear it on the right hand, then switch it later.  Either that or wear it on left and switch the order later.
I will be wearing it though.
    Anniversary
  • My band looks weird without the e-ring, so I definitely don't want just the band for the ceremony. I have always pictured my FI putting the e-ring and band on together, but I want them separate for pictures (not soldered). Now that I really think about it, I'm sure my FI won't want to worry about having to put two rings on, so I will probably wear my e-ring on my left hand and just switch the order after the ceremony. I dunno we'll see.

  • Seventh-Day adventist ceremony does not exchange rings. My Pastor said he will if we wanted him to. However, we decided that will wear the engagement ring at the wedding and after the wedding we will exchange rings. If we change our minds the best man will hold on to my rings.

  • Oh I hadn't even thought about this yet.  I guess I will proably put my e-ring on my right hand and change them.  yes. I just checke to make sure my ring will fit on my right hand.  LOL
    Anniversary
  • When I go to have mine dipped before the wedding I am going to have them soldered together.  Then I won't wear it until the wedding.  FI will put the whole thing on my finger at the wedding.  I have a fake "wedding" ring that I plan to wear while I am bartending so I will wear that in place of my rings while it is getting dipped/soldered.
  • I'm planning on wearing my e-ring on my right hand after we get married anyway - I prefer the look of the band alone on my left hand, and plus my two rings don't really go well together. (The e-ring is a sapphire so I think it'll look fine on the other hand.) So I'm just going to switch it to my right hand "permanently" the morning of the wedding. I already made myself a note because I'm sure I'll forget, though!
    Anniversary
  • I am going to wear my e-ring on my left hand as normal and just switch the order after the ceremony.  I wear a ring that has diamonds from my grandmother's wedding ring on my right hand and defintely want to wear that on my wedding day!
  • My ring doesn't fit on my right hand but I don't want it on my left hand during the ceremony.  My mom has offered to hold it so that's one option.  Also, I'm tying my deceased grandfather's wedding band to my bouquet so maybe I'll tie my engagement ring with it for safe keeping.  I haven't fully decided yet.
    Anniversary
  • I'll most likely be wearing it on my right hand during the ceremony

I don't want anyone to have it but me.  I'll wear it on my right hand, so FI will place my wedding bands on a "naked" finger.  I'll put my E-ring on the top after.

Same for me except my claddaugh as an emerald in the middle of the heart.

  • I am wearing it on my left hand. I thought always supposed to wear it on right but it doesn't fit. I also prefer the look of the band on the outside, no inside where it should be so i will keep it that way. When i buy the duplicate band then i will solder them together.
