loft/industrial locations?

FI and I have completely fallen in love with The Foundry in Long Island City, but it is just too small for my ginormous family--we need to accomodate 170. )it's a converted factory with amazing light and architectural interest.) TheKnot website only lists like 50 wedding sites in the area which is insane since there are millions. Any suggestions for industrial-style spaces? i have heard there is one on Long Island... TIA!! Jane B.

You are so right - The Foundry is GORGEOUS!  Sorry its too small. In LIC also there is The Metropolitan Building in LIC which has a few different floors and might accommodate larger parties.I hope that helps

I'm getting married at the Foundry! LOVE the location, it's so pretty. Sorry, totally excited. :) I thought that they could do 170 if you use the courtyard -- you can even do a heated tent in the winter. The only other place we seriously considered was DUMBO loft, which is really affordable and a pretty large indoor space. It's not industrial in the same way that the Foundry is, but it has exposed brick and huge wooden rafters, so its kind of the same feel.

you can fit up to 200 if you utilize the courtyard space too.  We are planning our wedding now for October of next year and have booked the Foundry (right now have 180 guests planned).  Give them a ring, they are great at working with whatever you need.

Maybe also take a look at the Altman Building on 18th street. Or the Bowery Hotel.

check out The Lighthouse and Pier Sixty, both at Chelsea Piers... we are using The Lighthouse (for ~200 guests) and it is a huge (10,000 sq ft) open space with lots of options for how you want the day set up... plus it is on the water with 2 walls of floor to ceiling windows, so that always adds a nice back drop
