Monday Football Post

So, for all of you football girls, how did your weekend play out? For me, I was on top of the world on Saturday because we won both of our flag football games (I scored a touchdown and an extra point!) and my WONDERFUL LONGHORNS beat Tech which was great! On Sunday I was highly dissapointed by the Cowboys. I'm starting to think Romo needs to go! I honestly think he was the only reason the Cowboys lost. The defense played great! I hate that we lost to the Giants for the first game in the new stadium! :(

Our defense gave up 33 points and failed to stop the Giants when they were backed up the length of the field and had a 1st and 20.  So I have to disagree they played great, although there were some bright moments.  ITA about Romo.  I thought he looked off last week even though we won.  He honestly looked terrible.  I kept turning to my FI and going, "WHO is he throwing at, WHAT is he doing, etc."  Flozell's penalty killed a drive that might have made a difference.  I think there's a lot of blame to go around, but most of it lies with Romo.

I only watched the first half because I hate both teams, but to me it looked more like the Defense's fault...at least in the first half.  I mean, Manning was gunning it down the freakin field.  They need to figure something out....but I don't mind if they keep sucking. ;)

The defense gave up over 400 yards yesterday and last currently ranks 30th out of 32 in the league.  But they at least kept us in the game by holding the Giants to field goals in the red zone.  With 3 offensive turnovers and one on special teams, it was a miracle we were ever in it.  However, the Giants D was just as bad.

Got a "nice" sunglasses tan at the game on Saturday--but it was worth it. I cant wait until we start playing "better" teams. I'm very impressed with Landry Jones and his "stache" BOOMER SOONER!

The Aggies won on Saturday, and even though it was against Utah State I'll take a win wherever we can get one.  I'm really hoping their game against Arkansas will be televised so I can see how they are actually playing. I was not happy about some plays made by the Eagles special teams, offense and defense.  I think that all of them had some blame in the game yesterday.  I think it will be interesting to see if McNabb will be back next week, or if it'll just be Kolb & Vick.  If McNabb is back/Vick eligible to play (which I'm not thinking he will be), it'll be sad to see Garcia go again.  I was hoping he could prove himself like he did in the playoffs a couple years ago.

*I don't think McNabb will be playing till after the bye week, I do think that Vick will be eligible to play next week.

I'm starting to think Romo needs to go! I honestly think he was the only reason the Cowboys lost.I have been saying this for a while.  Our defense gave up 33 points because they were tired.  When you turn it over every three minutes, they don't have enough time to rest.  I definitely do not blame the D on this one.

I am upset that USC is still ranked after getting beat by Washington (who? exactly!)  I hate that the college football system depends so much on pre-season rankings.  If you got beat by a certain team and you have less wins than that team, you should be ranked below them, period.  No "oh but they were ranked high coming into the season," what the f does that mean?

TCU won on Saturday, and BYU and Utah lost.  That makes me :)

It's because the "Sports world" loves USC--they can do no wrong, anybody watch Gameday? I get so tired of hearing about how amazing USC is. I'm also tired of hearing about the Tim Tebow "second coming." Also not interested in hearing anymore about Jordan Shipley--I can respect Colt McCoy, but Shipley comes off as an a**--Bevo should have gored him on Saturday.

The Chiefs have lost 25 of their last 27 games. The Raiders were the only team they had a shot beating. They are so terrible. I still wonder why I'm a fan... My fantasy teams were rock solid, though!

"Our defense gave up 33 points because they were tired. When you turn it over every three minutes, they don't have enough time to rest." My thoughts exactly Julie. I felt like they were the only reason we were still in it. Romo's horrible play should have made us about 21 points behind! I do agree with the Flozel thing though. He has the most penalies of anyone in the NFL I think. There were quite a few red zone stands that I thought were great by the Dallas D. What scares me most is that the Giant's D was very banged up and they didn't have most of their starters. Can you imagine what it's going to be like in December at their house when they are all back healthy? YIKES!

I've been watching it happen to my Aggie defense for years.  It also hurts when your offense goes three and out a lot too.  I have not been a Romo fan for a while now.  And all they have is some never was (Kitna) and Stephen McGee (awesome Aggie) who wasn't allowed to pass at A&M.  It was really sad, IMO, because he was actually a passing record holder in HS football here in TX.  The Cowboys should have drafted another QB or at least gone after a better back up in the off season.

Man I wish I was on here when all this talk was going on..Marissa, I was thinking that about Shipley haha and my whole family is also wondering when he will leave UT because he has been there forever!Even though Tech lost on saturaday, our D played their hearts out in the first half and we lost 2 of our starters(injury) on top of losing them to graduation so I am still proud of my team. Next up, UH!

Shipley has been at UT for 6 years because he was hurt his first two years and the NCAA granted him a extension to play.

I'm so happy that OK State won (although I do believe we are overrated this season). I'm also glad the Longhorns beat Tech! This is going to be an interesting college football season, that's for sure.

I have a dilemma... Only my football girls can help me out... I'm a Kansas Alumni - LOVE my Jayhawks. Their football team is mediocre at best and I don't see them very often. Here is my dilemma... We're going to Kansas City at the end of October to visit my inlaws. That weekend UT is playing Mizzou (KU's arch rival), but the Jayhawks are playing OU. My husband would rather go see KU because he doesn't really care about UT/MU, but I'd kind of like to see a really good game and save my KU chants for B-ball season. I'm fully aware of how ridiculous this "dilemma" is, but which game would you go to? UT vs MU or KU vs OU OU is going to annihalate KU and UT/MU would be a game... And I'm from TX, I love the Longhorns... :/ At least its football in the end....

    I'd totally rather see UT.

I'd go to your alma mater!   You just never know what might happen...TCU beat OU several years ago and everyone thought they would've gotten slaughtered at that time too.Wouldn't want to take the chance of missing that! :)Disclaimer:  I'm totally irrationally biased here because I like to see it when ANY team beats OU.

I would only go to see games in which my alma mater is playing.  Bill's dad tried to push us to go see an LSU basketball game last year in BR.  His brother, BIL, and sister weren't even going and they went there.  He thought that I would like to go since I love basketball (and I do).  However, I have never enjoyed going to a game when I didn't have a connection to one of the teams.  It just seemed weird.

Well, it looks like the UT/MU game won out. HOWEVER, it looks like we'll be going to the KU/MU game in KC the Saturday after Thanksgiving now which is the best game of the year - we've beet MU the past 2 years. I'll wear burnt orange to the game against Missouri, but will have to sneak in some KU gear some where... Thanks girls!

I think TECH played a great game against UT. Everyone thought they would blow us out and we hung in there. Both teams made mistakes but if Tech can play a number 2 team in the nation that closely then I am looking forward to this season more than I was before. One thing that is aggravating to me is how many people are quick to bash Tech. I got on FB Sunday and there were so many updates about how Tech is not even a real school and how trashy people who go there are. IMO, its even less classy for people to say things like that and it only makes their school look worse. I understand there are Tech fans that fit the stereotype but there are fans like that from every school. There are just as many Tech fans and grads who are nice, educated people. Its also annoying to look at where they went to school and see Tarleton or other schools when they have pro-UT status updates. Long rant but it gets old always hearing people quick to put down the Red Raiders.
