That is seriously messed up. I kind of wish that were grounds to make them give the baby up for adoption... apparently they don't really want it, or at least they don't care...

disturbing is the word.  not to mention sad and tragic... if they chose to have their child, how do you think the child would feel if he or she ever discovered this?

Wow -- that really is distrubing!! I am stunned.

Sorry to share something so utterly wrong, but last night, the people on the site voting in favor of the couple aborting was actually winning, so part of me thought about having a bunch of people go in there and vote for the couple to give birth (although I would then hope that the couple would give the baby up for adoption).

My own beliefs aside, I can't imagine what couple would put such an important decision into the hands of complete strangers.  I hope someone calls Child Protective Services on them if they allow the baby to be born.

this is horrible. I don't understand why someone would do this. it's a life! You're letting some random strangers decide whether you take a life or not.

I knew that I too should have stayed away but I could not. I just think that it is super sad that people will do almost anything for fame. What a sad situation for the child and the couple.

I did however see some lights, people that were pro-choice were even standing up for the child. This was nice to see, that they were telling them to give the child up for adoption. That was positive.

I will keep this family in my prayers and I pray that they will give the child up for adoption rather than killing him or her.

Just a note from a past experience on here:  I'm wondering if we are going to have a huge amount of people coming to flame you for posting this and "spreading hate".

    ugh.

    The whole thing is disgusting.

What's most disturbing is the thought of these people raising a child.  I pray that the killing him vote doesn't win, but I also pray social services steps in once the child is born.  Can you imagine this poor child's life with these two for parents?

wow, that never crossed my mind!

I hope if they have the child they will have the decency to put it up for adoption.

Can you imagine if the poll ever became public in later years and the child knew?
  • edited December 2011
That is terrible.  I can't believe they would arbitrarily allow others to decide.  What are they going to tell their kid if they let it live?

well, we could hope that they end up having teh child, then realize "wtf were we thinking!" and end up being amazing parents and publicly denounce their actions with the poll, and wind up working for pro-life organizations.  stranger things have happened.  Jane Roe ultimately ended up on the side of the pro-life movement.  who'd have thunk that??
  • edited December 2011

I almost cried reading this and I was actually shaking with anger as well. How could they even possibly think of doing this? I do hope there is some action taken and they give this child up for adoption! This is not the way to bring a child into the world!!

I've been reading that some people think this website is a pro-life publicity stunt by the couple.  I hope it is, for the sake of the life of the baby, but I still shake my head in disgust that the parents would make light of such a sensitive issue.  I can't imagine being pregnant and even joking that I would allow strangers to make a decision about the continuation of my pregnancy.  That's disrespectful of the life of the baby.  What point are they trying to prove?  I doubt anyone would take anything this couple said seriously after reading about this stunt.
  • edited December 2011
I'm 99% sure that the website isn't real, and is a stunt of some kind (pro-life or not).  It just doesn't make any sense to say it's a chance for people to voice their stance on abortion, since being pro-choice doesn't mean someone is pro-abortion, and there's no option for adoption.  Besides, it's the internet and trolls abound.

Either way, it is a horrible thing to joke about.  It's a slap in the face to anyone dealing with an unwanted pregnancy.

The website was taken down by the time I tried to look at it today.  But I'm sure it was very insensitive to everyone, especially to unborn children and mothers dealing with unplanned pregnancies.

The Minneapolis Star-Tribune talked to the actual couple behind the website, who say it's real:

I don't think I have words to describe how horrible I think this is.

Well, fake or not 80% of people voting want them to give birth. We shall see.

What kills me is that they didn't say they didn't want kids and the article implied they were upset over the three earlier miscarriages--you are blessed with a healthy pregnancy after 3 miscarriages and you do something like this??
