Underthings...

Hey all,
Just wondering where everyone got their underthings. I am looking for a long line bra and crinoline to go under my dress, but I am finding that everthing in the plus size world is expensive! Any tips or did you just suck it up and pay the cost?

I bought my slip/crinoline from David's Bridal just because I didn't know what size to get or where to get it elsewhere, but I refused to pay bridal prices for a bra. I ended up getting the "Goddess Longline bra 689" which is listed at $50 by barenecessities, but I found it somewhere for $32... I'm trying to remember where. I ordered it online using the measurements that Davids Bridal had given me for a bra size (not my normal bra size) and after reading reviews of how it fits, and it fits perfectly. So that would be my suggestion.

Now I'm thinking... did I get it from amazon? hmm... *off to investigate*

Yup. Amazon, but depending on how big your boobs are it ranges from $26-50. If for any reason you need a 50FFF bra size, you'll be paying $50. Anyway, that's my recommendation for a bra.

I always expect to pay a fortune for good bras. Heck, I wish wholeheartedly that I could fit into a bra from target or one of those '4 for $20' deals. Unfortunately, its not the case.

Lane Bryant have a deal on bras right now, buy two get two free. And I really need new bras. Mine are like four years old. But, I can't justify spending $100 on myself. Like ever. So, I'm stuffed.

I'm sorry. Seach around online and see if you can find things a little cheaper, but I'm afraid your main choice will be to suck it up and pay it. :(

You could try department stores maybe for long line bras.  Then check retailmenot for coupon codes or wait til you have a good coupon.  Not sure where to get the crinoline, but maybe check David's Bridal and Alfred Angelo.  At DB website the poufy underskirts are under lingerie.

I've never been impressed with Lane Bryant/Cacique bras.  On every underwire bra I've ever owned, the underwire eventually pops free under the armpit and pokes me, but the discount bras have proven far sturdier in this regard than Cacique.  I've had their bras give out after only a handful of uses.

May I ask where you usually buy yours?

Nearest Lane Bryant for me is Altoona, PA.  I've bought Cacique bras in two separate occasions more than a year apart, buying four bras each time.  The same thing has happened to every single bra.  The longest one has lasted before the wire poked out and I had to remove it was 10 washes.

The discount bras I buy at the VF factory outlet in Reading PA, and they last months, at minimum.

Ahh. Most of mine came from Bravissimo (I was lucky enough, while I was in England, to have a store in my town). They lasted pretty well until a few months ago. They're all getting a bit mishapen now. :/

OP, apologies for the threadjack. I hope you can find something reasonably priced. :)

Try washing them in a pillow case and air drying. I have some that have lasted over a year!

Meh, I'm just going to buy discount bras from now on.  There's no reason to pay extra for bras that aren't any better than the cheap brand.

I usually find they don't run to my cup size, and if I do.. the material is so thin its laughable.

I have a hard time with the underwire coming out too. It sounds like I will just have to suck it up and buy some more expensive things. It pains me to pay $120 plus on something I am going to use once!

<div>I always wash them in a lingerie bag and then air dry.  Mine have lasted several years with no problem.  I'm a big fan of the balconette bra from LB.</div>

I buy all my bras at Lane Bryant, and they've all been great for me. I just had one wire break and I had that bra for 2-3 years. My second job is at one and I take advantage of my discount, lol.

I got my long line bra at a plus size bridal shop here in MN and only paid $65 for it and DB was wanting to charge me $90 for one.
