Getting my arms to look great

I am wearing a strapless dress & I was wondering if anybody knew the best excercises for the arms. My arms are so fat & they buldge out really badly! please help me

Re: Getting my arms to look great

  • If you're arms are FAT, you need cardio. It's the only way to shed that excess fat off. Whatever cardio you're doing, keep those arms MOVING. It'll burn up to 20% more calories, and therefore burn more fat. Once you get the fat down lower, you can start doing the lifting which will pack on muscle and help burn off the leftover fat... But as of now, if they are as large as you say they are, diet and cardio are your two bff's.
  • If it's fat, there is no way to spot reduce that.  Starting a healthy eating plan to lose weight is the best way.  If you just need to tone the muscle (which is great with a healthy diet) some great exercises include pushups, dips, planks, and working with weights.  A lot of people have great success using this book as a guide to lifting:   http://www.amazon.com/The-New-Rules-Lifting-Women/dp/1583332944
  • Besides just cardio and eating healthy....it also helps to do some weight training....light weight but a TON of reps...
  • Swimming! I'm an ectomorph I dont gain muscle easily. I'm petite like a ballerina. I tried for years to gain muscle in my upper body to match my runners legs. I did this through weights,  and even going to a physical trainer. It wasnt until I started swimming 2+ miles a week in preparation for a triathlon that I gained upper body muscle mass. I'm now preparing for a half ironman triathlon.

I particularly reccomend getting a leg floaty and doing what's known as the freestyle pull for about 500 meters a week, this is where you swim freestyle upper body and pull your legs no kicking allowed the float keeps your legs in a constant drag formation too. Your arms will burn! I can swim about 45 minutes or 1.25-1.5 miles without issue which is about 2000-2250 meters, but the pull at about 600-750 I'm toast!

Next year I will do an olympic distance triathlon a month before my wedding and a half marathon 1 week out to ensure I'm at my peak body mass. For me its not about weight its about form. I want to be solid. Fiance is going to do P90x so he's cut too, but I like being outside so I'm going to go my own way.

  • Cardio and push-ups..power yoga is great for shoulders and arms.  Swimming can be unrealistic for most people who don't have access to a pool.
  • BOXING! I joined a boxing club about a month ago and my arms are really getting into good shape fast! See if your gym has any cardio-boxing classes, or if you have TITLE boxing club in your area. Its fantastic cardio, but also strength work, so you never get bored!
  • I did these arm exersices for my brothers wedding in the fall when I was in a strapless dress and I could def. see the results. I am hoping to really start to tone before my August wedding.
They also have a link showing a back exercises which i enjoyed as it can all be seen in a strapless dress. You can download a pdf at the bottom of the article and print off the sheet.
