1 or 2 photographers?

Hello,

I need some photographer help. Unfortunately, I have  a few needs and a more limited photographer budget (2500). These are the basic things that I need....anything else at this point would be a bonus.

DVD of all images with printing rights
unlimited hours (due to long gap b/t ceremony and reception)
Bridal session
Engagement session

Here is the difficult decision....I really want 2 photographers, but this usually increases the price to around 3,000 on most photographers I have researched.

So, for those experienced brides do I really need a second photographer?

I will be expecting 125 guests for the wedding. I feel like only having 1 photographer could leave a lot of missed shots. But, I also don't want to go over my budgetFrown.

At this point I'm not too concerned about prints or albums. I figure I can always order those later.....right?

Thanks for the help!

Well I think you've got it right- having a disc of all the images is VERY important! I think prints and albums come later.

I personally wanted 2 photographers. I just felt like it provided the best coverage for my money.

But if I was in your situation where the length of time was the most important thing, having the 2nd shooter may be something you will need to compromise on.

How long is the gap btw your ceremony & reception?? Maybe this is something that you can discuss with your potential photographers and see what type of custom packages they could offer you. Best of Luck!!

YES you want 2 photographers. i feel that's a very reasonable budget. but if you have to go over - i wouldnt stress too much. im sure you can pull the extra couple hundred dollars from somewhere else. it's one of the most important things for your day.

I agree as well having 2 photographers. Nanner and Mdnite explained the reasons of having 2 the best!

I want 2 photographers, but I just can't squeeze out the extra $ for another photographer. my first choice had 2 photographers and nearly everything else you want for less than $2K (not unlimited time though, it was 8 hours). but I can't recommend her to anyone right now because she is on hiatus from wedding  photography for health reasons. she took my beautiful e-pics (see the one below) and I'll miss her dearly.

Thanks. My biggest problem is the gap in between the ceremony  (1p.m.)and reception(6p.m.).

Nanner-I followed your suggestion to see if some would be flexible on the time due to the gap.

Hopefully, I will find one that will work with me as I really would like to have 2 photographers at the wedding.

Janie's Photography told me they always send at least 2 photographers to their weddings (but if there isn't an emergency, they send 3) and they have customizable packages too!
