wedding cake vendors?

Hi,I'm looking for a bakery for my Oct. wedding in Brooklyn, NY, but I live in Philly, PA, so  I don't know what baker is good.  I was looking at Dragon Bay in Brooklyn,  and they are charging $800 for a 250 ppl cake.  My questions are:1) Is that reasonable pricing?2) If I'm paying that much from a Chinese baker, can I get an American baker with the same costs?I'm just looking for a 3-tier cake to cut, and the rest of the cake can be sheet cakes (they don't need to be displayed).  Any suggestions?  Thanks in advance!

Getting cake quotes have been blah.  I haven't been able to go to NY lately, but I am going this weekend.  And I will post my findings.  I was hoping to get an American cake for a decent price, but they are like $5/serving.  The cheapest quote I got was $700+ not including delivery.tohruchan--Can you tell me where you got your cake from.  That price is way too good to pass up!!!  I'm going over budget on a couple of things, and this will help ease my budget.  Thank you!!!

cloi0001, did you end up getting some wedding cake quotes? who did you end up settling with? and what did you end up ordering? I know that Dragon Bay is pretty expensive. I think Ming Xiang on 8th ave btw 56 & 57th street is cheaper.

hi honeybearchan, i got 2 quotes from american vendors. the first one was $1000 from edible confecitons.  and the other one was for $840 from cakes by faith.  they are both in brooklyn, ny.  my fiance and i chose cakes by faith b/c the price was reasonable for a red velvet fondant cake.  the cost covers delivery and set-up also.

A basic 3 layer white cake + 2 sheet cakes for 250..hmm I would say  $500-$600 is reasonable in brooklyn, Anything higher than that is just overpriced. no matter it's from American Bakery or Chinese Bakery.
