Engagement ring on right hand?

I wear my wedding band on my left hand and my engagement ring on my right hand. That's how my mom did it, so I was used to it growing up, and I like it better that way on myself. I haven't met anyone else who wears their rings like this... is there anyone out there who does? Just curious.Have women always worn their engagement rings and wedding rings on the same finger, or is this a newer thing? Just wondering because, as I said, I was used to my mom wearing them on separate hands so I never knew otherwise until I got older and started paying attention.

Friend of mine wears her e-ring on her right hand because they couldn't get a wedding band to fit against it right without spending big bucks for a custom one.

The only person I know who wears hers on separate hands does so because her rings have such wide bands that they're not comfortable. Why does your mom say she wears hers like that?

my best friend does this. she didn't want to get a custom band to match her non-traditional e-ring, so she wears the e-ring on her right hand, and her wedding band on her left. whatever works for you.

I'm not married yet, but I'm planning on doing the separate hands thing. But I honestly don't personally know anybody else that does it this way, so people pretty much think I'm insane, lol.I also have stupid-tiny fingers (Size 4/4.5), so even the thinnest little band looks like "too much" next to my e-ring.

In Germany they wear both e-rings and wedding rings on the right.

Meg, my fingers are the same size, which is why I wanted to keep my e-ring small. I was a bit worried with what two rings would look like on my finger, but they actually go quite well, even though I do have tiny witch hands. My only issue is that the 4.5 is a little too big and thus they spin around and make a little bit of a clinking noise when I move my hand quickly. They look cute, though.

TheSun, I have a small e-ring, too. When FI asked what I would like, I pretty much said "Something that doesn't swallow my hand". Its pretty much the tiniest version of the "Past, Present, Future" ring with the channel set diamonds on the side: met my criteria perfectly.I just ordered my wedding ring a week ago (Its super delicate and thin), and of course the store didn't have it in my size (They only had a 7) to get an accurate idea of what it will look like, as the bigger ring just sort of swam on my finger, lol.When it comes in, I will try looking at them stacked to see if I like it that way, I'm sure having both rings fit properly will help me make a more "informed" decision.

I wear my rings on the left, but backwards. I wear my engagement ring first and then my wedding band on top. I just like the way they look better.

FI is german and they wear the wedding right on the left hand and the engagement ring on the right. I am getting a small second band as a nod to this tradition....

My mom's rings are both really wide, so there's no way she could even fit both of them on one hand. My engagement ring is kind of tall (the diamonds are set higher than the band, if that makes sense), so I think it looks weird next to my wedding ring (which is just a thin, solid, plain band). I feel like it dwarfs or hides my wedding band, and I want that band to stand out on its own

Also, I just feel like I want each hand to have a ring on it, I guess

The first time I was married I wore my wedding band on my left hand and engagement ring on my right. That's how my mother wore hers and probably about half the people I knew growing up (including childhood friends now) wear it that way. My engagement ring had a center stone and a band of diamonds above and below it so there was no way I wanted to wear another band with it. I chose a wedding band of all diamonds for the other hand. I also liked having diamonds on both hands :-) (This time around, I opted not to get an engagement ring so I just wear my wedding band on my left hand.)

There are some cultures that do that. But most in America where is on the same hand. But really, who cares? Do what you want.

I currently wear my engagement ring on my right hand. do what ever you want!I think the left hand is an American thing. I know some Europeans wear their wedding rings on their right hands.

I wear my e-ring on my right hand, when I do wear it, but I'm usually not wearing it. I love my e-ring, but I wanted a traditional wedding band and my e-ring wouldn't have fit with it. My mom never wore her e-ring either. My dad bought her a set but she wanted a traditional wedding band so she wore both of thee-rings until they married and then she put the set away and just wears the band.

I wear my e-ring on my right hand and will wear my wedding band on my right hand as well. It's a religious thing for me. But do whatever you want.

I wear my e-ring on my left and my wedding band on my right hand. fwiw - most women I see have either both bands on their left hand. But there are no rules. Lets face it, you do not even have to have a ring to be married.

Ya know, I've heard (and seen) both ways, it's whatever your comfortable with. If you have them sottered before hand (some do) then obviously they both go on at the same time. I have my mother's rings (she passed in 2003) that I'll be wearing on my right hand & will keep my e-ring on my left hand & just slip the w-ring on the same finger with it (I'll reverse them later). Again though, it's your day, it's whatever your comfortable with
