Eden Resort in Lancaster- help!

We're having our reception at the Eden Resort...I love it!!! My question is: has anyone else had their reception there and if so...did you have the ceremony there too? We have no place to have the ceremony but don't like that the guest will HAVE to sit at their tables for the ceremony. Also, where did you take pictures? There aren't really any photo spots. I'm not from Lancaster so I don't really know if there are any photo worthy spots nearby either. I absolutely love this hotel and the people are wonderful...I'm just trying to solve these 2 issues. Thanks!!!!!

So...I am having my wedding at Eden in March.  I too went back and forth about the ceremony/reception thing but we made a decision to have our ceremony elsewhere. Sitting at the tables, I am not fan, there are other places that do that too.  You do have the option of getting the tables set up theatre style and then re-set (I think it cost 750 to do that).  If you are having it in the courtyard, I can give you an idea of what it looks like, I saw a wedding set up that way.Unfortunately, I wish we wouldve chose another place now, but that is just me.  The further we got into the planning the less pleased I have been with the venue.  But thats just me!

My sister had her reception and ceremony there (back in 2005).  She had rows of seating in the courtyard with a few tables set up in back during the ceremony.  Everyone sat in the rows though.  Then we had a cocktail hour in the the room next to the garden, and the garden.  We also did pictures in the garden, where i believe they had an arch.  During the cocktail hour, they moved the tables in to position.  I don't actually know if she spent more for this, but I feel like she didn't have to.  Of course this was 2005, so a lot could have changed.

redreviving6: what kind of trouble are you having with the vendor? Also: where are you having your ceremony? Thank you so much..I need all the help I can get!I know that we can have the ceremony in the garden but its 750! That seems like a lot for such a short time. Everyone else: how were your experiences dealing with this site? Thank you so much!!

So far i am not really having any troubles with the eden resort. The staff so far have all been super helpful, answering my phone calls and e-mails back very quickly and they go into as much detail as they know in answering the questions  i have thought of. I Have stayed there several times (being an out of state bride) and the facilities are very nice, clean, room service and customer were excellent. I also was well aware when i signed my contract that i was going to have my ceremony on site in the courtyard and then the room would be flipped for the reception during cocktail hour. I knew there was an extra fee but i am having my wedding on a friday and the eden is offering me a HUGE discount (i am also recieving discounts from other vendors because of it being on friday) and with the money we are saving i decided we could definitely afford to pay the additional "flipping" fee.

RogueQueen:Thank you so much for your input! I've found the people there to be super helpful as well. We are using the courtyard for our reception..I think it's so beautiful! What is the fee that they are charging you for "flipping" the room? Where is your cocktail hour being held while they are flipping?Thank you so much!!

Ha...I am just seeing this reply. For me, its smaller things that I didn't expect and that I wish I had control over.  I definitely shouldve done more research before signing the contract.  But in terms of the staff responsiveness, they are pretty good.I am an "out of town" bride if you will and I have visited Eden SEVERAL times...I have seen about every wedding set up.  I personally wasn't a fan of the "flpped" room because the tables were still on the sides.  However, it doesnt look BAD at all.  Just not for me.I am having the ceremony at Grace Baptist Church, its the next exit down.  Rehearsal + Ceremony + extras came up to $475 and its a nice church with nice grounds (for pictures).Good luck!

My only concern with having a ceremony in the courtyard is that the fountain is so LOUD! You don't think about it when you are there to visit the site, but when you are at a wedding there it is really hard to hear over the fountain + music! JMO

At the wedding I saw w/ the ceremony & reception, they cut the waterfall off during the ceremony so its a non-issue. LOL...yes, we were stalking from the lobby! :)

I am having our reception in the grand ballroom at the Eden. My sister had her wedding there as well and the place is just immaculate, and fantastic. the staff is wonderful. The only thing is being an italian family, the food wasn't 100% amazing but it was good enough! I wouldn't recommend having your ceremony there. there are plenty of beautiful places in lancaster such as the lancaster county park, or Landis Valley. The problem we are having with the Eden is they don't have a great cocktail hour. Arthurs is small and awkward, and we don't want our cocktail hour in our ballroom but to have it anywhere else they want to charge us like 250 just to put it somewhere else. Thats the problem I have now, and I'm stumped! I REALLY really don't want cocktail hour in the same room as the reception
