Problems with ex-wife

I am at a loss as to what to do.  My fiance has three wonderful children.  Two girls and one boy.  He only gets to see them one night a week.  I would like to have them stand up in the wedding, only I don't think the Ex will allow it.  He is trying to get permission through the courts, but that sometimes doesn't always work.  The girls are 16 and 13 and would love to be in the wedding.  I'm just afraid if we buy them dresses and everything, then the ex-wife won't let them come.  She refuses to even speak to my fiance, she'll only talk to his parents.  If they do end up being able to come to the wedding, I'd feel bad just having them sit with everyone else!  Has anyone else experienced this or have any suggestions?  Thank you in advanced!

Hopefully, he can get permission from the courts. I honestly think planning on having them in the wedding and buying them dresses would be the best idea, and if it doesn't work out, then so be it. But, at least you made the effort.
  • Can you get married on the day he has the kids?

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • What a crappy situation.  I don't get when people get divorced and can't even be civil towards one another.  And use their kids as pawns.  Disgusting.  I hope that you're able to get permission for the kids to attend.
  • I'm sorry the ex is being a b!tch.  I really really don't like my ex, and probably have every reason under the sun to keep the kids from him (narcissitic and emotionally abusive out the freaking wazoo) but I didn't.  He is their father and I never once told him no when he asked for them to come over and visit beyond his regular times.

If the ex is so bad that you know that whe won't let you have them beyond that one day a week, then do try very hard to get the courts to change his visitation days.  Typically the non-custodial parent gets every other weekend and one day every week.  Hopefully you can get something like this.
  • Thank you all for your advice... I think we're going to try to look into getting it approved through the courts.  I appreciate all your advice!
