Buying a dress without trying it on..

So.. I've tried on many similar dresses to this one, but since this dress was discontinued I cannot find it any store to try on, only online. It's my size, I measured myself and have also tried on dresses similar to this one with the same designer. It's an AMAZING price, and I cannot decide if I should buy it without trying one on like it (since I really don't want to loose it.) Or not buy it? Thoughts?

  • Buy it only if you're willing to risk losing your money, because 1. doesn't fit right, or 2. you don't like it on you as much as you thought. There's always the option of selling it and buying another dress if either of these become the case, but again, it's risky and a lot of hassle.

  • I bought my dress out of Maggies Book in the bridal shop without ever seeing it in person or trying on a similar! I LOVE my dress and couldn't imagine wearing another. I say that if you truly feel like this is the "one" then go for it, but if you are having doubts... I would hold out for another one.
  • I browsed online and found a few dresses that I thought were "it," but then I managed to find samples in salons and they looked like crap on me. My dress ended up being one that I'd passed over on the website about a million times and never thought about trying on. But I think that risk could be lessened since you said you've tried on similar gowns and gowns from the same designer. I would only do it if you're 100% prepared to possibly lose the money on it, and also prepared to have to start over with the dress shopping should this dress not work out. I would personally keep trying on dresses in salons to see if you can find one you love, but in the end you gotta do what you gotta do.

  • I bought my dress without trying it on or seeing it in person. I am a plus size bride so I went with my instinct. So if you have tried on similar dresses and you feel comfortable with this decision then do it. GL and post a picture when it comes in.
  • I think that no matter what - if you haven't tried it on, there's some risk that the dress won't meet your expectations in some way. But since you've tried on dresses of a similar style, by the same designer, you really minimized the risk. It's still somewhat of a risk - I think you need to decide which is bigger: the risk that it won't work or the regret you'll have if you don't get it? I wonder if a bridal salon near you has sold that dress before and would be able to tell you anything about it? (if it looks different on real people than on the model.) You've got a tough choice - and I'd love to hear what happens (and, if you do get it, to see pics!) :) GL with your decision!!
