Maui Activities/ REstaurants

Hi!We are staying at the Hyatt in Kaanapali for 7 nights, and wondering which activities to book/ restaurants to go to? We'll be there from Dec. 26-Jan 2nd, so we're also looking for something fun to do on NYE. We'll be coming from Kauai, and are doing ATV tour and a Helicopter tour there, so I want to do a snorkeling/sailing tour, ziplining, and surfing school in Maui I think. Any recommendations on which companies and/or other things you recommend? Thanks in advance!

Mama's Fish House was my favorite restaurant on Maui. I also enjoyed Sansei (sushi) and Nick's Fishmarket- but those are a little far from where you are staying.By the way, we just got back from Kauai in August and did the ATV for the first time. We did this at Kipu Ranch. We both loved it- it was alot of fun. I've also done the zipline on Kauai. We had a pretty good experience with the Princeville zipline. I noticed that Kauai Outfitters offers some pretty unique tours where you hike/kayak/zip all in one- might be something to consider.In Kauai, I would recommend a catamaran tour on the Na Pali coast (it would be better than anything you would see on Maui), but I'm not sure how rough the seas would be in Dec/Jan.From Maui, the Trilogy cruise to Lanai is one of my favorite Hawaiian activities- they do a really nice job of it.Have fun!

We just got back from Hawaii. Maui is beautiful! I second Mama's Fish House, I don't even like fish but the fish there was amazing! I would definitely take a snorkel tour with Four Winds II. The crew is great and they supply breakfast and lunch. As for surfing, I would go with Goofy Foot. They do a great job and are lots of fun! The Old Lahaina Luau is awesome. We drove the Road to Hana, which is not for those who get motion sickness but it's beautiful there are lots of waterfalls and the 7 pools are a lot of fun to swim in. I would get the Maui Revealed book, it does a great job of recommendations as far as food and places to go.

Go to Roy's in Kahana - and there's a Sansei in Kapalua for awesome sushi too. Maui Eco Tours for kayaking & snorkeling. TONS of fun.

Mama's Fish House is a definite must! Also, try Aloha Mixed Plate in Lahaina for good, cheap local food. Check out my Maui Honeymoon Review posted under my Vendor Reviews in my bio link below. I reviewed all of the restaurants, activities, rental car, etc., that we used.Maui is incredibly amazing! Have an awesome time!

My favorite excursion on Maui was the sail/snorkel cruise to Molokini with Trilogy Cruises. We picked them b/c they will sail if the winds allow and they do not overcrowd the boat. It was great - tons of fish, turtles etc., went to two spots and the food for lunch was really good. (If you watched the show the Bachelorette, it's the same company she had one of her dates on with Ed) Mama's Fish House for dinner was amazing. It was a hike from the Hyatt but worth it. I also liked Kimo's restaurant in Lahaina.If you like to hike, do the Kapalau trail on the N. shore of kauai, it was great. We stayed at the Hyatt too and it was great!

We ate at Bubba Gump Shrimp in Maui one night. It was perfect for DH because Forrest Gump is his favorite movie! We also viewed the sunrise at Mt. Haleakala and biked down with the company Maui Downhill (the bike ride wasn't scary at all!). If you've never eaten at a fondue resturant, The Melting Pot is wonderful. Both these resturants are not Maui specific, however. Have fun! I'm so jealous

I'o and Pacifico in Lahaina were both really good...Mama's was the best meal we had. In Kauai make sure to stop at the Shrimp Station...i still crave that coconut shrimp!!!

Restaurants - Kimo's on Front Street in Lahaina (our favorite) Activities: Pacific Whale Foundation Snorkel Cruise to Molokini and Lana'i, road to Hana - continue all the way around. We did it in a Mustang and it was no big deal. It was beautiful and so different that the other side. Rent a car and drive to Iao Needle Park, drive the entire island starting in Kaanapali on Route 30 till it turns into Route 340 -there are amazing sights that most people miss becasue they are afraid of the road, just take your time and drive slow. if you don't go, you are missing so much. Luau - Old Lahaina Luau - the best - great food, great drinks and nice atmosphere.

We went there on our honeymoon in July. It's the best vacation! Favorite restaurants: Mama's (we went for lunch and it saved a lot of money), Cheeseburger in Paradise, and the Aloha Mixed Plate. The Aloha mixed plate serves the same food as the old lahaina luau next door. We went there 4 times in a week we loved it so much. Plus, they had $3 mai tais until 6 every night. don't go snorkeling in the afternoon. They didn't take us to molokini b/c they said it was windy. There were like 5 black fish and a few sea turtles. It was a big letdown, as I've been to molokini before. We rented a convertible and loved the drive to haleakala.
