Peonies - Connecticut - June

I really want peonies for my June 2012 wedding in CT. I'm looking into some florists, but I was wondering if anyone has used/is using peonies in their wedding? How were the prices??? I've seen mixed reviews for prices/when they're in season, but if there's anyone whose had them in June and/or CT, that would be helpful! :) We're on a budget and would love to keep the flowers under $1000 (we're having about 100 guests, wedding party of 10 right now, including us...if that helps?)

Thanks!!

I'm getting married in CT in September, so peonies aren't generally available (so sad!) but I LOVE them! In talking to my florist, they are some of the most expensive flowers around. She quoted me upwards of $5/stem. So if you plan on using them, you would most likely want to mix them with other, fuller, cheaper flowers. I've also seen cabbage roses that look similar and have that sort of "fluffy" feel to them. Parrot tulips are another option. Definitely talk to a florist who will work with your budget!

I'm getting married in June in NJ & doing all peonies - 2 shades of pink for my bouquet &  all white for the girls.  Peonies are in that time of year & the price has really come down. They are now comparable to the price of roses that ime of year (I was told by my florist). I really wanted tupils (they are my favorite) but in June, I would have had to get them flown in from Holland - not an expense I was willing to take!
