Talked with DW agent on Saturday- thoughts

All in all it was a good conversation. She did talk a little much and not let me get a word in but I eventually said what I wanted to. She is going to send me some resort information today so that will help as well.

She really felt like Mexico would be best for us (coming from Texas).

One thing I didn't like is that she really pushed their resort. It looks really nice and I would consider it but I just don't like having things crammed down my throat, you know?

I know that is to be expected from a TA and there could be perks as far as staying there but... well I don't know.

Finally, I mentioned in the initial emails that we wanted our guests to spend $1000 for the entire trip.  The places she was talking about seem to be $400/night on the internet so she is either ignoring what we said or can get some mad discounts.

Any thoughts?

  • I went through a TA and she was not pushy at all. She got married in Mexico the year before but she didn't push that either. She was really good at sitting down and listening to what we wanted and asking just the right questions to find exactly our vision. IE - do you picture yourself overlooking a cliff, in a garden, barefoot. What type of attire will you want to be wearing... formal, casual... etc. She helped find everything we needed and really listened to us to give us the best options for our vision. My thought would be to interview more TAs.

[QUOTE]Make sure your needs are met.  Don't let her convince you to do something or make a choice that you don't want or don't feel comfortable with.  It's great that she has suggestions and speaks highly of the resort she works for but if you decide not to go with that resort, is she going to be as supportive, knowledgable, and helpful with the resort you do choose? Don't be afraid to state your demands and your vision.  TA's and wedding coordinators sometimes try to persuade you in the direction that is best for them not you.  But, it's your wedding and your money. Good Luck!
