Flower girlzilla!

My FSIL just posted this on my FB page:

"I should warn you that [niece] is obsessed with all things weddings now. She may be a flower girlzilla. Today she told me that she was going to be a beautiful bride in your wedding."

I responded:
"Well if she gets too out of hand, tell her to call me and we'll talk about it."

To be honest, I think it's kind of hilarious and adorable.  I was a flower girl for my dad's brother and again for his sister when I was about my niece's age, and I can still remember quite a bit of the experience!  I can't wait to take all three of the nieces dress shopping!

Are you looking forward to your flower girls' experiences?  Are they excited, too?

  • That's funny and kind of cute!  Both of our flower girls, or one flower girl and one junior bridesmaid whichever the older choose :), are really excited about it and I can't wait to find dresses with them!

She is only 4 so she can't go too far with this....a few tantrums, I suppose, but overall all of the nieces and nephews are really great kids so I'm not anticipating any problems between us.  Her parents are really great too, so that helps a lot.  I'm excited to talk with her about it again, haha!

I can't wait to see how mine will react! Three are my little cousins (they'll be 8, 8, & 6) and one is FI's little cousin (she'll be 4). I am very close to one of the oldest girls and she's done a few cute things so far. One day we were at my aunt and uncle's and she was playing with her Barbie dolls and one Barbie was dressed as a bride and her Ken doll was dressed as a groom and my other cousin (her older sister, a little younger than me) told us she had been calling the dolls Courtney and Tom. She also told my aunt that she didn't want a pink dress, she wanted a white dress like me (we actually did end up picking ivory dresses for them, so she was very happy when I told her). She also called my mom this summer and asked her when my wedding was and when my mom told her it wasn't until the next summer she said in an upset voice, "But that's SO far away!". Too cute! I know they will feel like princesses!

  • I'm so excited to get my flower girl dresses!  I picked them out online and will order them about a month and a half before the wedding.  I emailed their moms the pictures of the dress to show to the flower girls and they love them.  I visited them a couple months ago and showed two of them the picture again and one of them is so excited to get her dress and kept showing it off to people.  The other one wasn't a fan of the pink on the dress so I found the same style with an ivory flower which she liked a lot better.  I can't wait to see them in their dresses!
  • That's adorable :) My flower girl is FI's niece, who's 4 and has been a flower girl in six (!) other weddings so she's an old pro. She told me she wanted a pink cake for this wedding and that she gets to toss the bouquet. She practiced with me the other day and it was adorable :) I might get her a little pink cupcake for her own since she wants it so badly. My children are going to be spoiled.
  • That's so cute!  One of my FG's is 10 (I think) and she was a FG in her cousin's wedding last summer so she knows the drill.  The other one is 2, will be 2 and a half and is absolutely adorable.  She's my cousin's (MOH) daughter but I pretty much treat her like a niece.  After I bought the dress and brought it over to try it on she didn't want to put it on, but then she wouldn't take it off.  She's got the biggest personality and will turn any bad day around.  She may steal the show.....and I'm actually okay with that!
  • That's so cute!! Haha. I have a 9 y/o and a 10 y/o as FGs. The 9 y/o is FI's little cousin, and is obsessed with FI and me. She is sooooooo excited to be a FG. When we asked her if she would be a FG her face lit up and she didn't stop grinning for the rest if the night. Haha! The other FG is my cousin's daughter (so my second cousin?? Idk). I was in her mom's (my cousin's) wedding when I was like 8 or something. I think she is excited, but not like FI's cousin. She's a little more mellow, while FI's cousin is hyper. Plus, I've spent more time recently with FI's cousin, than my cousin. I used to babysit for her back in high school, but up until Christmas it had been about 4 years since I saw her. Idk how FG shopping is going to go because I may not be able to go with my cousin back home...we'll see.

  • My neice has been a flower girl already & is a flower girl in another wedding this year. We are not having children in our wp but she told me the other day she is wearing her flower girl dress at my wedding, she was obsessed too, she is 5.

I told her she can wear it if it still fits her, yes she will look like a flower girl in pics but ah well, my nieces mean the world to me. My brother & sister will never have kids so i will never have any on my side, i have been around since these girls were born so they have always called me auntie.

  • Love it! So cute!
I am so excited for them. My oldest niece (she is 5) is sooo excited, she knows exactly what to do and cannot wait. The other one took some convincing.. she has a mind of her own. She told me she just wanted to watch me (Not sure she got the concept)

I think I mentioned this story on here before; but once the oldest (her sister) and I took her up to the wedding site and demonstrated what she would be doing she got all excited and told me that she wouldn't be a flower girl but she would be my leaf girl :) too cute!

  • That's cute!

My FG is almost 5.  She's really excited too.  Last time I saw her (she's my undergrad advisor's daughter) we talked about going dress shopping and what kind of dress she wanted to wear.  She decided on a princess dress so she could look like a Disney princess.  She even told me she was practicing dropping the petals with some of her barbie clothes so she could do the job perfectly.

    That's adorable!

FI and I gave all of the nieces and nephews picturebooks on being a flower girl/ring bearer.  In my research, I found one for flower girls that looked really good, and it came with fake flower petals for the girl to practice with.  Ultimately I decided not to go with it, as the petals would just get everywhere and I'm not having them drop petals at all.  But a reviewer commented that her granddaughter had gotten the book, and on the day of the wedding it was evident that she had "practiced" a lot, because after the processional, during the prayer, she went back up the aisle and picked up all of the petals again so she could use them later!

    Oh that is ADORABLE.

One of my flower girls (my cousin's little girl, may as well be my niece) is 4.  She is all about being the flower girl.  I showed her the dress online and she was so excited about it.  She then had to see my dress of course.  And then she asked me if I would curl her hair like mine for the wedding day.  (My hair is naturally curly) Her little voice and asking me so nicely I totally melted and said "of course I will!" Her parents were laughing and shaking their heads they said she will hold me to it.  I was like I don't care.  If it makes that precious girl happy I will curl her hair on my wedding day :)

  • FLowergillzillas are so cute ...

My youngest (8) and FH's BFF's youngest (9) are my flowergirls and they are a trip! I took them in July (just the three of us) to shop for thier dresses and thier gifts. My youngest has her own "Wedding Planning Book" and loves to offer suggestions. Here are the girls with their gifts on the way home from our shopping trip:
