Reception Venue Help Needed!

Hi everyone! What an exciting time! My fiance and I are looking to have an April 17th wedding (no rain, no rain, no rain!). Does anyone have any unique reception venue ideas? Our church is located in Falls Church, so that gives us a pretty big area to look at - I am overwhelmed already! My goal is to not have a square ballroom in the bottom of a hotel... I dream of windows and modern decorations. Any advice would be appreciated :)

    I'm having my reception at The Grand Atrium in Tyson's, depending where in FC your ceremony is, shouldn't be too far. I don't know if they're available for your date but it's worth a shot.     I'm not sure what your budget is, but perhaps the Torpedo Factory? I initially wanted to explore this venue too, but I couldn't wrap my head around the site and additional rental fees that come with it. However, the wedding and special event pics look beautiful - definitely something out of the ordinary!Another place to check out (again, considering budget) would be the Ronald Reagan and International Trade Center. SO modern and beautiful, BUT again, on the pricey side. Good luck with everything!! :)

    Hey date twin! We shall pray for no rain together. Fairfax County has a few historic homes that are reasonably priced. You can find out more info on the Fairfax County website.

    Can I just say that you girls are AWESOME! Here are my responses (so far!): The Reagan Building - Is there anything more beautiful?! It is/was my first choice, but after receiving their quote yesterday, I started to panic. For 175 guest, the room and food itself started at $41k. Wowsa! That's not including ANYTHING else... lol. Hence, me asking for ya'lls help! Torpedo Factory and The Grand Atrium - This is the 2nd time I've been asked to check out both of these places! Emails are sent! 2941 - That's where he took me on our engagement night!!!! It might be a little bit pricy for us and I'm not sure they have the room for a big Greek (the groom) wedding - lol... but I will check it out! Fairfax County website is next on the list, "date twin"! Thanks everyone! Keep em coming :)

    Let us know what you decide on! I also looked deeply at Madigan's in Occoquan, kind of far, but we're regulars at their restaurant and their food it amazing and the place is gorgeous and it's one of the cheapest places I found. The reason we didn't choose to have the reception here is that my grandmother will be 87 years old (OY!) and they don't have an elevator, since the banquet room is on the 2nd floor it wouldn't have gone well!

    Not too keen on Madigan's. We live in Woodbridge and that's just too close to home. It was a good idea though... thank you! Meadowlark Gardens is fabulous! I already emailed Wayne and he responded with "we are booked!"... LOL! At least for the dates I provided. I just requested one more date and we'll see what he says. GREAT IDEA! Thanks!

    I second the historic buildings idea, Fairfax & Arlington both have really neat spaces, super cheap, but you have to find a caterer who can also manage your tables/chairs/linens as they are EMPTY SPACES. They offer discounts if you are a resident.Other options: Rust Manor in Leesburg -- gorgeous space, about :25 drive down the toll road from Falls Church

    You should check the Willard hotel, it is the perfect location for a Washington Wedding with so much history and unique space. check them out at www.thewillardweddings.com

    I have to agree with "tbtrfli"....if you've got the money to spend, definitely check out the Ronald Reagan Building :-) I'm having my wedding there in June and cannot wait! Its an absolutely GORGEOUS venue and they are fantastic to work with!!

    If your looking at Woodbridge you should try Old Hickory Golf Club. www.golfoldhickory.com They are reasonable and have great picture locations!
