A is home...

Her college BFF just called and said she was coming down tomorrow night and asked to crash at my house. She said, "A went home yesterday." I had no idea. Her mom hadn't posted anything on the journal online and no one called me (not that I expected a phone call at all.) Thank goodness I found this out before I trucked downtown to see her after work.

I guess she's off the vent. She can't really talk, but she is taking texts. I did shoot off a text to her right away telling her I was glad she was home and to let me know when she felt up to a visit from me.

It's my understanding that she's in hospice care. She also has a lot of medical equipment at home. Her whole time in ICU was a rollercoaster, so I'm not sure how things will go at home for her.

I'm so glad she's home. This is what she wanted. She was in the hospital for almost 2 weeks and I know she hated every second of it.

I hope so. I think I may try to call her mom tonight to say hello and see how things are going. I'm just in this position of not wanting to impose or be a burden. Her family has so much going on and I don't want to be in the way, you know?

I will probably go over on Thursday at the latest while college BFF is in town so that I can see her.

From what college BFF said, yesterday was insanity. Her mom had *no* time to prepare for A to come home, so it sounds like they're just trying to settle in with the new normal and having people (hospice) in and out.

I wish I could have went to see her last week, but she wanted no visitors at the beginning of the week and when I found out she was taking visitors again, I was out of town.
