Cold Weather

Is anyone planning an outdoor fall wedding? We are planning ours for next October but this year our weather has been extra cold compared to normal. I am considering changing the date to mid-September thinking that extra couple of weeks might make a difference in the weather. I am really nervous about planning an outdoor wedding then it being in the 40's on my wedding day! What do you all think?...

Re: Cold Weather

  • You can plan for heaters in tents and what not, but if it were me, I'd move it to September and play it safe (and cheaper). I'm in MI and our weather has been horrible!
  • normally I would say no, but I notice you are from upstate NY, so I would say yes. I grew up in Buffalo, went to collge in Rochester and Law School in Albany and those October days and nights can be chilly in upstate NY, with a chance of snow :)! That being said, it will be beautiful that time of year...
  • We are having a Halloween wedding with a backyard bbq the day after.  I am very concerned about the weather being cold, but we have firepits and it will be during the day.  The only REAL concern I have is rain, cant really afford to rent a tent so just praying for the best.
  • Thanks for all of your input! We've decided to move the wedding up a couple weeks. I know there is no way of knowing what the weather is going to be like but I feel like I would have been more stressed thinking about how cold it is now and that couple weeks can really make a difference.

  • Our wedding is on Sat and i am really worried about the rain.. it looks like it will be chilly but not freezing like i originally thought, but we have chance of isolated showers... i have a back up plan but i'd really rather not use it! Probably a good idea to move it up. The date i had initially picked was perfect, except we had some aquaintances getting married that day and half our guest list would have been invited to both so... no go. Anyhoo, i wish you the best of luck with great weather!
