I figured it would be early, but....

I ordered my dress two weeks ago. They told me it would arrive on January 1st. It's October 2nd. Got an email this morning that it has arrived. HUH?

Now you don't have to stress about waiting for it to come in now!  That's awesome- but do you have room for it?  I bought my first dress of the rack and brought it home- and I got so sick of looking at it, I ended up buying a new one because I kept second guessing myself.  Hopefully they can hold it at the bridal shop for you.  But I'm sure you're not as indecisive as I am.  :)

I don't have room for it, but my mom does. Guess we're going to have to kiss and make up so I can store it in her house!

Yes!  That's where I stored the second one!  Gotta love mom, if nothing else then for the extra closet/garage space.

The same exact thing happened to me.  Did you get your dress at Alfred Angelo?   I ordered a breathable garmet bag online and just put it in the guest room where FI wouldn't look.  For the most part, I forgot about it too!

I got it at David's Bridal. My mom just moved into her noew house and has two spare guest rooms that have nothing in them. The dress will be very comfortable there. When should I start with alterations? I was thinking about having it turned into a corset back.

I also ordered mine at David's, one thing you should know when you pick up your dress check the entire dress sometimes they try to give you a dress that has been used to try on and they try to get it out of the store, they did that to my best friend when she got married and also me, they told me it takes like 2 or 3 months for your dress to come in and then i think like maybe a month later, they called me so when i went to go pick it up it was dirty on the inside there were snags in a lot of places, so just be careful look at the entire dress before you leave the store. I just wanted to let you know, so that this doesnt happen to you.

Ohh thats great =0) Atleast you dont have to worry about IT not coming in late or anything =0) My dress has been at the Bridal Shop since January! But, the lady was nice enough to store it there til November. I know David's its a huge chain, so they wouldnt allow that. Your mom's place is a great storage for it, that is if she has the room for it. Again, Yaii for getting your dress in =)

Wow Jenna, I can't believe that did that.  That totally sucks! The waiting game is one of the reasons I am glad my dress was off the rack, but now I have to play the waiting game of having it majorly altered.  Mine is way too big to store it in my room so it hung in my parents' bedroom all summer. It's now in my seamstresses shop being worked on.

I was going to go alone to pick it up, but maybe I should take some backup with me in case it looks like they're trying to give me a used one (since I had to special order it, I expect a brand new one). So how long do alterations take? I've heard so much about the magical Renee, and can't wait to get started. Is that something I do right away, or do I wait until closer to the end of the year? My wedding is in March.

It depends whether or not you plan on loosing weight and if its a really big alteration job.I tend to think sooner is better than later so if something does come up you have plenty of time.I had to start early because my dress is a pain in the rear to alter.
