Im not really good with measurements so here goes: 3-4 lb picnic roast (that means the hip/leg but the label it picnic at the grocery store for whatever reason)I trim off all the fat and cover it with a dry rub for pork (McCormick makes a good one and Stubs is pretty good too). Then I put it in the smoker with hickory chips and smoke it for about 2 hours on lowThen I transfer the roast to a crock pot, add 1 cup chicken broth, half on an onion-sliced up and 1 tablespoon of garlic. I set that on low for about 3-4 hours turning it ever hour so the meat doesnt dry out.

I forgot the sandwich part: Once the meat is done cooking you shred or "pull it", add your favorite BBQ sauce and serve on a bun or if you want to do it true southern style you server it on texas toast. Whcih is really just think sliced bread with garlic butter thats grilled

OMG my mouth is watering...... :(I've been craving some mean bbq since I got back from Memphis.  I wanted to try and make my own bbq sauce.  Have you ever made your own or do you just get it store bought?

I'm not good w/ measurements either.  Like Rachel Ray says... just eyeball it.

I am such a Memphis BBQ girl. Thats where he was from so I think thats kind of my same style too. Ive made my own before and it was good but its alot of work too. My all time fav bbq sauce is actually Bulls Eye so i would rather save time and use that which is better than what I have ever made. They make a spicy sauce that is yum!

Awww I'm getting so hungry just thinking about it... I wish I could go to Memphis now.  I loved it there, everyone is so polite and friendly.  I don't have a smoker or a crockpot yet. :( I'll keep Bull's Eye in mind.  I have found a bbq sauce I like yet, and I love it w/ a hint of spicy.  I want bbq nachos.
