Ideas for Reception food

My fiance and I are foodies...we really love food.  So I had an idea of having a small course type (like Taste of Honolulu) of dinner where guests could chose from different food options which would be our favorite foods.  Do you think this is feasable?  Would we need to find one caterer who will do it all or would we have to get separate vendors?  I just thought that this would be different than having a set menu in a hotel.  Any suggestions?

I think it is totally doable...discuss options with your venue or caterer..i think your guests will love it! J. :-)

Yeah, just talk it over with your caterer. I'm a huge locavore and wanted our meal to showcase regional cuisine and my caterer definitely made it happen. If you're going off site and can bring in your own caterer take a look at some regional restaurants to provide the food - like Alan Wong, Sam Choy and Roy Yamaguchi. There's about 12 chefs in that founding group of people who really took the Hawaiian Regional Cuisine thing to the next level. Take a look at some of their menus and see what inspires you!

FWIW, I used Bev Gannon's caterering on Maui, and 2 years on, guests are still talking about the short ribs and her passionfruit cake.

thank you Maui2011 and Kaesha for those ideas.  I would be looking for a caterer on Oahu, would your caterer have friends/ people in the catering business here on Oahu?

We just had our wedding on Maui, but I heard lots of good things about "Ginniberries" on Oahu when I was reading through reviews.  You might want to check them out - it looks like they do all kinds of catering.  HTH!  :)
