can't decide photographers

Okayyy...so the fiance and I are having a hard time choosing between some photographers..he wants something more budget friendly (I dunno why b/c my mom is gladly paying for the pics) and I want something more our style, more realistic/artistic/candid as opposed to posed/cheesy/saccharine-like photos. Alberto and Kristin from Urth were my picks. But we felt really comfortable with Martha from Daniel W. Torres (very important to us). So I dunno..what's ya'll take...? Pay a little more for awesome photos...or get more bang for your buck with average photos? Do any of ya'll have experience with the following photographers? Sarah-Try some photographers out of Austin. Maybe you will find some styles that you like and people that you are comfortable with. I really like my photographer, Stella Alesi. You might want to try the Nichols, or Pink Posh. I've never heard of the three above photogs, but I had a fantastic experience with my photog, Caitlin's Creations.  We were super comfortable with her and she took fantastic photos.

I have been struggling with my photographer decision as well, but I finally made the decision last week and we're going with Caitlin's Creations (www.ccportraitdesign.com). I wanted the same artsy/candid types of pictures. I was going to go with someone from Austin, but I ended up going with Caitlin instead. I have read so many great things about her, I love all the pictures I've seen that she's taken, and she is a really sweet and easy going person to work with. I also was looking for a budget-friendly photographer. I did consider Kristin from Urth Studios; I think she's amazing (just out of my price range and not available on my date). Hope this helps.

Definitely pay more to get great pics.  I'm sorry to say, but usually with cheaper photographer you  get cheaper quality and not as talented/artistic photography.  The day will go by so fast the wedding pictures are really t he one thing you will have that will bring you back to that day, you don't want to regret not having better pictures.  I have never heard of the photographers you listed either but I used Bend the Light.  You can actually see some of our wedding photos on their blog under Marisa and Manny www.bendthelightblog.com. Everyone who has seen them tells me they are some of the best wedding pictures they have ever seen and it makes them want to get married again just so they can have better pictures.

I'm also going with Caitlin. Like the stuff on her website, her price is pretty good, but most importantly she's been awesome on the phone and email communication. I'm doing this long distance, and that's vital. I also like that she's close to my age and a female. If somebody is going to have a camera in a room where I'm getting dressed, I'd rather it not be a strange man. =-)

Sarah, my daughter just got married Saturday. We used Mary Sledd from Austin, and I cannot recommend her highly enough. She's quirky and utterly fantastic to work with. She's not one to do the cheesy glamour shot type photo...more the photojournalist story teller type. I'd pay a little more for awesome photos...it's the one thing you will have to keep those memories. Go for it!

I have to second Becky and Claire that Caitlin's Creations is awesome! In my opinion, she is very artistic! The fact that she communicates quickly, is easy to get along with, is incredibly organized and is budget friendly are all just added perks. The main thing that drew me to her was her artistic eye. Her photos are incredible! I don't have any experience with the other photographers.I say you can have the best of both worlds--artistic AND budget friendly photos by going with Caitlin!

I think we will be going with Alberto Vasquez-- my fiance has hung out with him on several occasions and found him to be a great guy. As budget-friendly as I am trying to make this wedding, this is the one area I am willing to spend more... after all is said and done, the pictures will be your memories. We love how artistic and "unstaged" his photos seem to be.

Hey ladies! Thanks for all the input! We decided on Daniel W Torres Photography. Alberto Vazquez  rescheduled on us at the last minute on the meeting time he picked, told me our date was available but another bride was vying for it. Once we decided to go with him he told us that all of a sudden at the last minute our date was not available. Then a few days later told us it was available again. We felt like our business wasn't wanted so we actually went with Daniel W. Torres. His wife was SUPER nice and treated us like we were valuable future clients. Plus his photos are good too.

I'm HUGE on paying more for your photos!  After it's all said and done... it's the pictures that stay with you!  (Except for maybe the smell of cake up your nose! haha)  But I would definitely pay for the photos yoou want... even if you have to budget more tightly somewhere else.

I have to agree! I was not expecting to pay so much for photos and decided to go the cheaper route. Well I went with American Photography who was providing a "special"but they do it every year! The owner and I was informed she was the photographer, was not that all nice. Plus the day before the wedding she ends up telling me someone else was shooting my wedding! I didn't want to switch and the guy ended up shooting photos only  half the night and was out of sight......kissing it up with his date he said was his assistant! I do not recommend them!  Spend your money on the photographer!
