Wedding Date?

I'll skip the long story, but we may be moving our wedding date up. Our options are May 8th (day before Mother's Day), May 29th (Memorial Day weekend) or June 18th (day before Father's Day). Which do y'all think would be the least disruptive for our guests?

I can tell you I went to a wedding the day before Mother's Day and it was fabulous.  And, her mother threw a Mother's Day Brunch the next morning and invited all the guests who came to the wedding to attend it.  It was lovely and I had a great time.  Memorial Day weekend is usually a beach weekend.Father's day probably wouldn't be bad.

I always like a May wedding..Memorial Day would allow more out of town guests.  I would look at how many of your guests regularly go out of town for Labor and Memorial to gauge how disruptive it would be.

I would vote for Memorial Day weekend... Our wedding was Labor Day weekend, and we had not 1 complaint about it... It allowed our driving distance OOT guests an extra day to drive, but keep in mind holidays usually increase airfare, so if you have alot of flying OOTer's it might not be the best choice. Fathers day weekend would be my second choice. Ive heard flowers shoot up drastically for Mothers day weekend, so not sure what your budget/plans are - but having your wedding that weekend might cost more fore centerpieces... Just something to think about :) GL!

My vote is memorial day weekend - people def appreciate the extra day for travel (our wedding is on labor day weekend 2010). FYI - One note of advice, my coworker was married the day before mother's day and had a hard time finding a florist for a reasonable price.

I was married the day before mother's day and honestly my aunts and uncles loved being able to bring my grandma her mother's day gifts in person :D.Ditto though on the florist. We had silks for our bouquets and that worked out perfectly. If your reception package comes with flowers, be prepared by moving up that they may not be able to accommodate you. I booked with Kirks flowers in Newark and they (as well as many other florists) told me that they would do 1 wedding only that weekend. However I had pretty decent turnout and everyone had a blast being with family. :)
