DJ Gratuity

Hello everyone!  Is it normal to have a dj gratuity added to the total?  They said that there is no tax, but a gratuity, which is their tip.  Thanks.

This is pretty standard as far as I know. We also had to pay gratuity but not tax.

There is no tax on services. If you don't receive any kind of physical product then you don't pay a tax on it. I think a tip should be based on performance, but I have no doubt there are probably some couples who think they shouldn't have to tip even if the DJ is fantastic. Which is probably why some companies include the gratuity in the total.

I just asked the questioned to Mike over at East End Entertainment aka East End Dj's. He said, the best types tips he prefers are recommendations. His services seem to be recommended by numerous vendors and venues in the Hamptons and the North Fork.
