Mansions with beautiful backyards

Hey girls!! I'm looking to have a wedding in either Chicago or it's surrounding suburbs and I would absolutely love to have it at a mansion or a beautiful house to get our family and friends to feel "at home". Do you girls know of any mansions or big beautiful homes with GEORGOUS backyards/scenery? If so let me know PLEASE! thank you all for your help!!

I fell in love with the Patrick Haley Mansion in Joliet but their minimums were much higher than we had planned on inviting. You can also try The Grove, in Glenview, Redfield Estate in Glenview, Cheney Mansion in Oak Park, or Lehman Mansion in Libertyville.

Definitely The Ogden Armour House at Lake Forest Academy. STUNNINGLY beautiful backyard/garden. The mansion is actually a school now, but still really elegant and beautiful.

Hi, I don't know if Indiana is an option for you but there is a place called Meyer's Castle in Dyer, IN, which is not that far from Chicago.  I have heard that it is very nice.  It might be worth looking into.

I agree with the above posters...Narnia is so pretty, and Dyer Indiana isn't too far at all.

I second the Patrick Haley Mansion! We're getting married there and the garden is STUNNING! You can lower the minimums by having an off time wedding (Friday, Sunday, or January-April).

FI's cousin got married at the Cheney Mansion in Oak Park in the garden outside and it was lovely.  Very gorgeous.  We were able to look around the mansion...but I was too busy gabbing about my upcoming wedding with his family that I didn't get a chance to peek. =0(

Just FYI, I emailed that castle in Dyer 3 times AND left 2 voice mails and they never got back to me. It kind of turned me off and made me wonder how their customer service would be when I REALLY needed them. I was bummed.... it was so unique and I really did want to go take a tour. :-(

Chiming in late here but we are getting married at Mayslake Peabody Estate in Oak Brook. You might want to check them out as well. www.mayslake.com I love the beautiful chapel. We will marry in front of the chapel with reception in the Event Hall in the mansion. Good Luck. By the way, the coordinator at Mayslake is Alex and he has been wonderful. Always answers my e mails within a few hours, or immediately. Very good customer service there. You bring in your own catering (no required list of vendors either)
