I got married last Saturday and couldn't have done it without our wonderful vendors. Our wedding was a complete surprise and somehow it managed to stay that way!
TC, owner of Muse Events, organized the whole thing and it was perfect. She found the room for us to use at The Curtis, organized the other vendors and kept me sane. I love this woman:) TC has that kind of personality that shines and you will find yourself not worrying about stuff and that is exactly what it should be like. Sat. morning all I was concerned with was keeping our kids clean (they wanted to play in the snow) and not trip over my dress.
We used the Dodge Ball room at the hotel and it was just lovely... and I have this thing about using any type of conference room for a wedding. The Curtis is quite possibly one of the coolest hotels I've seen. There are toys in the lobby and the floors all have themes. I love that the 13th floor is "Dun Dun Duuuun!". If you're looking for a really unique location, check it out. Our contact person there was Sarah and she was great!
Dawn, owner of Hillside Consultants Inc, was our florist and OMG did she make me cry! Dawn is one of the most creative people I know and she ran with our steampunk theme and created the most amazing bouquets I have ever witnessed. My flowers were a surprise (Dawn is a good friend and so I had no clue what she was up to) and when I walked into the room, dang if the tears didn't start flowing. Plum calla lilies, deep red Gerbera daisies, ranunculus, red berries and little mums and the most gorgeous purple dahlias I have ever seen! Oh and hydrangeas! Those beautiful antique ones! She put these little charms and twirly wires in with the bouquets to add the steampunk touch and just WOW. The table arrangements were to die for. Dawn brought little potted plants for our guests to take home, which we just loved. I hate those useless take home trinkets your guests don't know what to do with like little frames with your wedding date in it. Waste of money... don't do it:) Our guests got to leave with cute Christmas cactus and pointsettas and some other cool purple flower I can't remember the name of.... Dawn rocks.
Jason G and Gina (his lovely assistant/partner/fiancee) were our photographers. www. jason-g.com
Jason and Gina did the coolest thing--- they set up a photobooth corner in the room and we brought a trunk of silly hats and boas and such and they let folks take as many pictures as they wanted. We had a lot of kids at the wedding... and they were rowdy. Those kids had such a blast putting on goofy hats and posing! Many adults did as well, plus we were able to get family shots quickly and not have to try to herd the masses. This set up made it so fun! I can't wait to see the pictures. Consider something like this for your reception... I am telling you, no one was bored! Time flew by and the memories we will have preserved with these photos... you just can't ask for more.
Jason and Gina are just awesome people. They have the perfect personalities, and this is huge. I hate posing. I get all nervous and do this dorky smile or I looked ticked off. I have no idea what my deal is, but on Saturday I found myself standing out in the road posing all model like with my bouquet and loving every second of it. They were like photography ninjas. We've had several guests comment on how delightful they were and how fun it was to watch them zip around to catch different angles.
I'm going on an on about photography because in the end, it's the most important part of the day. The flowers will dry (ours are currently hanging from the ceiling), the cake is eaten (mine completely rocked, but I can't talk about that because I made it and someone will whine that I'm a vendor and ya-da- ya-da), the dress is packed away, the guests go home... back to life.
There is a lot I missed on Saturday. I had tunnel vision during the ceremony. I can't wait to sit down with my new husband and our kids and look over all of the pictures and recount the day. No pressure there Jason and Gina:)
What a perfect day it was. I owe so much to these people I've mentioned.
