Alteration Costs?

So I haven't ordered my dress yet but I think I know which one I'm going to choose. It's a David's Bridal dress and I was trying to see if anyone has an idea of what their alteration costs were? I looked on their website and it doesn't list anything specific with pricing. I think I'll just need the bottom of the dress taken up, as I'm sure I'll be too short for the dress, but if anyone knows the break down of costs, that would be much appreciated.

I got my dress from there and the only "alteration" I needed was the bustle and they charged me $100 for it. My mom took her dress in to find out the cost of alterations and I can't remember what they wanted to charge her. If you call them they'll probably give you an estimate...GL!

Davids will gouge you on alterations! Find an independent seamstress & it will be cheaper! I used Christine Hoyt and was very pleased with the alterations she did on my dress (she had to do a lot of work)
no identifiable siggy pictures anymore, thanks a lot stupid nest!

I think they don't list pricing because it depends on the dress. For instance if the hem of the dress is plain then it shouldn't be too much. But if there are a lot of layers or beading then the price would obviously go up from there. I found that independent seamstresses were more reasonable than David's Bridal. The seamstress I used was awesome. If you have a picture of the dress she could probably give you an estimate. Even though she is in the Springs she traveled to Denver for fittings... $100 for a bustle sounds like a lot to me unless it was crazy complicated. I paid not much more than that ($135, I think?) for an 11 point bustle, hem, taking in the cap sleeves and going over the entire dress to reattach beads and repair any tears (since it was a sample gown, but there wasn't a whole lot of repair to do). I used the seamstress recommended by my dress shop, but she's not employed by them. My bustle was crazy complicated, but I also got a lot more done for just a little more $. I've heard the same thing about David's alterations, that they're pricey. I'd get an estimate from them and at least one independent seamstress to compare.

Don't get your alterations at David's! I went through an independant seamstress, and my alterations were $220 for a 7 point bustle, taken in 3-4 sizes, and a lot of hemming. I know girls who have paid the same at DB for a lot less work.

Yeah my bustle was a 6-point bustle for $100...they charge $50/3 points. It's insane -- if my dress hadn't been in PA with my mom the whole time I would have shopped around but you know what they say about hindsight...
